First of all, muslims aren't killing people because of the 'past'. They are killing people because of their religion.

Second of all, much of the killing in Iraq is being done by muslims to muslims. Not only are muslims seeking to kill non-muslims, they seek to kill their own and are becoming VERY good at it.

 

Really? How much have you actually looked into the history of Islam? Do you understand the difference in the factions, and why they separated?

 

How many are there? I only know why the Sunni and Shia don't get along. I think I used to know why the Kurds don't get along too, but I can't seem to think of it.

I watched a 2hour special a few months ago on Muslims and their religious squabbles. Think it was on the history channel. There was tons of info on the program but my memory sucks pretty bad, forgot most of it.

There's also the Kharijitis (credited with killing Ali), the Wahhabi ("strict Islam"), Ismailis (aka "seveners"), Sufi (3rd largest Islamic sect?), Baha'ism (~5 million followers), "Nation of Islam" (western version), and possibly others that I've missed...
