i was wondering, what sort of income to you reckon this site makes?

    http://www.addictinggames.com/

all i would need to do is find someone to get the links to embed/downlad flash games(which would be easy)bang them onto a website in catergories, the more games the better!

But what are the flaws in this?otherwise everyone would do it - how do they get people to advertise on their site or do the advertisers contact them??

i dont no what the flaws are

The problem is, everyone is doing it. The only way you could beat them is to offer something new, or hire people to make custom flash games for you. Otherwise, there are thousands of other websites that try to do the same thing that AddictingGames.com does, and fail.

I would highly suggest you have a lot of startup capital ready if you do want to pursue this.

The problem with that is that you will be doing what everyone else is. Don't get a cheap domain name, and don't put as many games as possible on it.

Take time to figure out a good domain name you can use, and then pick the best games to put on it.

Put yourself in the visitor's shoes. Do you want to go through a bunch of crappy games to get to the good ones? No! So don't add them, they waste everyone's time.

Advertising on every forum you can may bring you small traffic, but returning visitors will be incredibly small if you don't properly think out your business plan first.

I would suggest you find a good arcade script, domain, template, and then either hire people to make you a few good flash games, or find the best games available and add them. Of course, you'll still be like 90% of the arcade sites out there- so find out a way to be different!

i see what your saying,im guessing theres no chance with a free sub domain,it will have to be a proper domain

or maybe i could make one on a free sub domain and see how it goes and if it goes well move it to a proper domain?

just about to make a thread asking what are good sub domains suitable for a flash games site

Definitely do not go with the free subdomain. I don't know where you are getting this free subdomain, but chances are, it will not support the features you will need to setup a proper arcade script.

Try going to Namecheap.com and registering a domain- they are only $8.88! As for hosting, I use www.lunarpages.com. Remember, it takes money and dedication to make more money.

the free sub domain will only be a try out, test how i would layout the site etc, then when i get the hang of it i will make a proper one

The problem is, it probably won't run an arcade script (depending on where you get it).

Unless you are fine with manually putting up games and individual webpages, I'd suggest you save your time and spend a few dollars here. Plus, you'll just have to switch over to an arcade script eventually anyway.

(That's if you are actually serious about making this work. Otherwise, go with the subdomain)

Yes, and provides functionality. For instance, many scripts have a rating feature. The highest rated games are pushed to the top of the lists.

AddictingGames.com runs a very good script that organizes everything fantastically.

    lol -- hello ebook millionaire.

Addicting games is one of the TOP arcade games sites on the net -- along with miniclip yahoo games, and newgrounds, and all the rest.

    They are the top because they;

    1. are well established, people know them. they use them.
    2. they have big budgets to offer prizes to developers to submit their games. - and to get more people knowing about them
    3. they have fresh content - that is updated often.

I doubt you'd ever get near the popularity of any of these sites now, they have the market covered.

Unless you had a big budget. You can easilly start your own arcade. I own a few -- all with over 3k games, and they make me about $5 a day.

I can make custom games, and i do, thats how i get the visitors to the sites, but games are not that easy to make -- so you couldnt get the new games each day that those sites get.

If you really had the budget, could make a kick ass site, and gave every developer somthing like <> $50 for a new game, then your site would get popular. ;)

You make it sound so easy by just putting a site up on the web and then loading it with a load of games. Sounds straight forward, but when it comes to earn money, it's never straight forward.

It takes a lot of time and thought. The site has to be updated regularly with new content, the advertisers will be quite easy to get most probably once you have a good PR and high traffic, but getting the traffic is another thing. It's not easy to get a site a lot of traffic and to try and keep that traffic.

anyone know where you can get like a html code that puts loads of flash games on your site and organisises them?

    edit:ON my free piczo domain
    www.free-fun-flash-games.piczo.com

    (theres nothing on it yet)
i know how to add a game.i put the name of a game and hyperlink it and put the game on another page.
I dont understand the whole scripts thing, would it take too long to just manually do it like this?

PR means Google PageRank - its a way to sort out popular sites from the rest.

As for a HTML code to put games on your site, you wont get one which sorts the games out and such unless you use PHP scripts. There should be at least one or 2 decent free arcade scripts, so you might want to look for them and test them out.

Does it matter if you have the games hosted on other sites?
as i realise if their site goes down then i lose the games i used from their site but thats not that likely?
    my site is
    www.free-fun-flash-games.piczo.com

i have just put two games on at the moment,do they look okay how ive set them up?
