Aviva Directory gets a Review. Concerned about its recent drop from google

I think jeff has left dp, but i am amazed to see that so many people do not like Jeff and Aviva altogether, and i thought aviva was a cool and jeff the coolest directory owner.

I got some reps. from folks that are quite popular here at dp. So, am i dreaming here ? But its good to know that lots of folks liked the article but did not want to post the same publicly maybe for obvious reasons.

I just wish that aviva actually updates its about us page though, cause otherwise i will feel that my review was a waste, and did not help a fellow directory owner at all.

Wha'ts the matter with 13 infractions? Is there a cut off point or are some infractions so minor that they don't get you banned kind of thing?

I was more interested to read the comments made by the green reps, I get the same about people we think are popular on here but in reality are disliked, or are you saying paidhosting edited them as well?

 

Well I wouldn't normally get involved in these discussions. But in this case I have a few comments to share.

I recently wanted to have some listings I had held at Aviva for a long time improved with Title changes, and I discovered I could now add deep links to one of my links at no extra cost as the option had been added since my link was submitted. A quick PM to Jeff and it was all done.

How many authority directories exist where you can contact the owner directly and get instant results?

I will not go on about the positive aspects to a directory you have been less than fair to, instead I will focus on your review.

I read your review, I wish I hadn't bothered. Firstly, the review is extremely superficial and far too brief to be of any value. It is preoccupied with an about us page as the measure of a directory to the point that you lose all credibility as a reviewer.

Your writing is very poor both in terms of english grammer and sentence construction and the review has no structure. I find this a strange business for to take on given your lack of writing skills or the fact that english may not be your first language. If you are serious about what you are doing why do you not seek some help from an english speaker who can write well, to add some quality to your work.

Basically, I am not here to blow smoke up anyone's bottom or rave about any directory, and frankly the review you have produced is so sketchy, brief and misdirected it hardly merits 3 pages on DP.

Slightly contradictory there thudufushi. You all big up this person and his link pages as if he's some kind of bill gates, he's not so why don't people stop raving about him as if he is. It's an 'authority directory' with hardly any links and a very small concern, probably a one man band if we're all honest with ourselves, the status it has is very misleading indeed and its about time that fact was made clear.

As much as you think paidhosting's post doesn't merit three pages on DP I and many others like me don't think avivadirectory merits a billion and one posts on here making it out to be bigger than it is and something its not.

@thudufushi like I said at the end of review its a brief review, i never claim to be professional nor good with finglish either, and reviews are my personal opinions as i see fit about a directory, like silky said i was blunt at pointing out his directory issues also at the same time talked about +ve aspect too.

By the way i am trying to get in touch with the person who said this to me "I can show you proof that jeff is a bad dude " . Whether i will post the proof is different story.

But remember review is targeting Aviva that i posted, not Jeff, if someone thinks that i wrote about Jeff. I never hated Jeff enough to have vendetta against him, but i do hate this one guy here at dp, and he knows about it and i pmed him on yahoo making it very clear

And like everyone knows i speak my mind out(aka my honest opinion about a subject), not caring about the possible concequences, and i think most dp members are already aware of. Example(oh these are the members i have had lots of arguments about) . David(from phpld), phoneix (the phlynx sales agent,one day he will admit it i am sure; ,Kev,Simon,Chris,malcom,richie,popo,anon, and so on....)

 

A Small questions for everyone in this thread , the OP with lot of courage made this a public post on his own website, what would you do if someone anonymous would have posted on his website?

Cmon guys he has posted a review , dmoz gets tonnes of reviews positive and negative and both are acceptable in different eyes, so lets stop accusing a single person. If someone is doing a mistake then people can point a finger on him , but in this case i guess he is not claiming but he is just posting his personal review so better please stop becomming a mob and attacking him.

If you guys are against his views and have some other views just post on your sites and announce it here and expect a 100% fan following. Though i didnt go deep into OP's points but just found many people attacking him just because its a bit negative review.

 

Reviews can be positive as well as negative. There is no point is criticizing or attacking a person just because his review was negative.

 

I think dargre and thudufushi are right on.

When paidhosting first asked us to critque his reviews I said something similar. Really the original post (it has been changed around a bit now) on Aviva sounded like 'sour grapes' for jeff not contacting you back for an interview.

and in response to amitpatel_3001, yes reviews are simply an opinion but if you want to be taken seriously as a reviewer then you have to adhere to some basic review principals.

 

Very well said! I do respect the openion expressed by the OP but, I do not necessarily agree with all the points discussed there.

 

why jealousy ? not all of them even have a directory !!!!! And most are not even leaving their names behind !!!

From my point of view this is only a link baiting campaign started by OP in order to get attention on his website.
Well, you did it! I bet your traffic increased a lot these days!
Why would anyone write a review without being asked to do it?
Why would anyone criticize someone else's website?
The way I see a proper review is to present both sides of the story, good and bad elements at the same time.
