If you are selling anything, stay away from paypal. It's amazing how easy it is for a buyer to claim there paypal account was compromised, and get there funds back. I wonder who this genius hacker is that goes around breaking into paypal accounts, only to pay for an item that that ebay/paypal user had won and the buyer reporting the "fraud" only after they receive the item. From my little analysis this month of over 500 paypal transactions, I would say buyers are ripping off sellers between $75k-$100k worth of items/services/money a month. Lightning-Software Tom
There are a lot of account break in and then sell off the account to other people at 10% of the money in it. Other half are jackass who go around scamming. There is not a single thing we can do except to suck it in unless you don't want to do business with paypal anymore. All paypal cares is not get their ass sued.
And if you try to fight the claim, it will take a long time for it to settle, and it won't even be worth it.
ye mine got locked for "scamming" even though i hadnt even sold/bought anything from the guy but we couldn't settle it so both got locked. lol paypal is not good at settling arguments.
At the end of the day thats what buyers demand - Paypal. As a seller I hate using Paypal, chargebacks are exceptionally rife - I can't even think of a time that I won a chargeback dispute with a buyer. Paypal offer no protection to sellers, I am considering other payment processors - however services from Moneybookers cannot be called a real payment processor as it is not possible to integrate this with various shopping carts.
Paypal protects and is all about the customer. Merchant accounts are about the merchant. I suggest every serious merchant get a merchant account instead.
I can see why there are so many hacked paypal accounts... the hackers would send email messages to people saying their paypal accounts may have been compromised, and should log into there paypal account using this link to check and make sure everything is ok... of course that link is to the hacker and the person then is sending that hacker their paypal information... There are a lot of hackers trying that with banks also... I am sure they get tons of suckers falling for it... I know how stupid people can be on the Internet...
Not to mention that they allow almost anyone to join. They should just get everyone to verify and confirm their accounts and put strict measures in people accessing their account from different area. May be like when accessing account from another place (different computer and ip), ask one of the secret answer question like what my bank do. Something like that can really cut down fraud and simple to implement. They have a crazy system in tracking down suspended account holders from registering again so creating something similar in login should be easy for them. Sometimes, I wonder did PayPal let all those chargebacks happen so they can profit from it.
I lost $200 coz of paypal rules..Scammer claim I am hacking his account & paypal deducted my money..Paypal is very s**kcs..
What the .... How can they take $200 only for that they claim you tries to hack them. There must be something else.
i have the same problem at paypal as stupid peoples claim there money back by making it un-authorize paypal. that is why i have come up with a better solution and since then i dont get a single refund. i dont mind sharing my tricks with everyone.... below is what i follow.... 1) never accept eCheck. If you get a eCheck, then refund the money before they can claim it un-authorize. To refund the dirty payment, goto the details on the payment. below you will see a Refund this payment option. click there and send there payment back. 2) never put buy button on your site. this invite stolen credit card users. credit cards are very easy to get by sending a dirty email where people click a link. it is called as Phishing or fake paypal login that looks like same as paypal login page but the URL on the address bar is different. So dont add buy button on the page. ask peoples to email you to get your payment links. 3) if you sell softwares like me, then i suggest you to make your own protection so that you can monitor users and deactivate there copy if they reverse there payment. i have made a protection that tells me who is using my programs and if someone reverse there payment, then i can punish them just by changing there key on my server since all my programs need to check my server to get there authoize key. 4) if you get suspecious payment, then refund it as soon as possible before they can claim to illegal payment. 5) ask the customer his/her name, address and country before they can make a payment so that you can match the info with there payment info. 6) never accept payments if the customer say its there friend's paypal acount or there wife's paypal account. ============================= believe me or not but it is really very easy to hack a paypal account and there are lots of different ways to hack a paypal account. 1) Phishing. Phishing is done by sending a fake email and fake login page. 2) by KeyLogging. Keylogging can be done just by sending a link or URL to the victim and as soon as the victim open the page, it secretly run a dirty scripts that install a dirty backdoor trojan. 3) Also keylogging can be done just by sending a picture or image to the victim. ================ they really sell stolen paypals to all the chat rooms and forumz. i have send it so many times. so it better you rufund there dirty payment before they reverse it. and this problem is not just on paypal but also at other payment service as well.... so there is no way you can stop it unless you follow my rules. i have not get a single refund this year nor i have get any illegal or stolen credit card payment. checkout my website to see there is no buy button and i ask all customers to send me there details before purchasing programs. i hope this info will be useful to you....
I am exchange with e-gold...After a week i got notification from paypal.. Paypal says i got money hacking account.. But when i tried contact the account owner no reply.. This is another way to make money i think.. After you sent money to someone then contact paypal to report your account hacked. You can got your money back..Paypal f**king..
There is a simple solution to this, keep nothing in your paypal account, transfer it to your bank account as soon as you get the money.
If you prefer to never do business with PayPal again, then do that. That'll get your account limited if they can't take back the money.
Dont take echeck, if you do wait until it clears. Ship only to confirmed address, and save the tracking number. If you do this as a seller you are protected. If they claim someone made an unauthorized charge but you show it was shipped to their home address you win and their account is closed (you keep money).
I recently had several pending deposits into my bank account reversed by paypal. The minute I have the money in my account I will try my paypal debit card at an atm and pull all the money out. As long as I can prove I shipped the item, I don't think paypal will nail my account closed. I will have to wait a week or so until I see the next charge back with this method. The only other thing I suggest, if it is a shipped item, wait 5 business days after the paypal payment withdrawal to ship the item so funds can clear to your bank account. I think after you ship an item, and have proof, paypal can't hold you responsible for a buyers "mistake".
