Hi, Does anyone know how to market a poker review site? It seems very saturated out there, so getting SERPS seems downright impossible and PPC too expensive. Yet I know from some offline marketing that I've done in the past (particular opportunity is now closed to me) that the regular income can be nice. Talking about 100-200 bucks a month for just two to three recurring signups. I know there are better forums dedicated to poker marketing but they rarely reveal anything - just a forum full of BS posts. Maybe the best thing is to have a high traffic site and funnel one's own traffic to it??? Wondering if anyone hear who is successful would care to share some tips, not big secrets but just a few tips and pointers in the right direction. I searched but all I see here is poker site reviews and selling sites etc. thanks
Hey man i used to runa very sucessful poker refferal website just out of intrest are you on set rate or you on a % as this makes alot of diffrence to the types of players you need to market for!
Hi shaun, I was on % (MGR), but I forget whether I offered fixed or %age bonuses. Either way, I can just create new tracking links. Are you still doing this or moved on? I'd wonder if you'd moved on because it seems to me quite lucrative? Let me guess, too saturated a market?
rolf, Here's a little trick I picked up a looooooooong time ago, when I was considering this niche. Boy, do I wish I had gone through with it back then. I'm not even going to tell you the domain names I could've picked up, but passed on. Anyway, this one is sneaky, and could get you banned from the places you do it at, so don't do it at any places you wouldn't mind being kicked out of. You make some nice laminated cards with your site listed on them. Make them very eye catching and appealing. Go to your local big chain bookstore; Barnes and Noble, Borders, etc...Go to the Poker Book section and slide your cards into these poker books. Hopefully, when someone buys the book, they'll see your card and go to your site. Like I said, you may get kicked out of the store if you get busted doing this. Just don't do it somewhere that you buy your books from. Jason
yeah thanks, I already knew that trick and offline marketing is very underrated I agree. Problem is that in the UK you are not allowed to offer a bonus. Its considered an incentive to gamble. New gambling laws are coming very soon. I had a look at the new Gambling Act but its like 100 pages long or something!!! Its considered a deregulation but with more protection I might let the dust settle a bit before I venture into offline stuff.
You guys turning into the US? Gosh. Though, I will say this, since it's been harder for me to play online poker, I've been more productive with my IM...LOL....My goal is to have my IM pay for a seat in the WSOP. Where, I will wear a tee shirt with my IM blog url on it. I can only hope I can last long enough to make it to a featured ESPN table... Jason
