Ashley Qualls is not that smart. She needs to learn the golden rule "take the money and run"

That's a stupid rule and she's smart for not following it. That was obviously a low ball offer and she obviously knows what she's doing.

There is a lot more to many of those stories. Often there is financial backing etc. that the press glosses over to make the story more interesting to people wanting to strike it rich.

There's definitely some art to deciding when to sell. I've seen companies reject middle of the road offers only to look back a year later and wish that offer was still on the table (or even be willing to take 1/2 of what was offered).

My sense is that she should probably sell to the highest bidder now and lock in some of the profit there.

That way she can sign a 2 or 4 year employment agreement for a good salary, work a little less hard and then transition off to a new company after the agreement ends. She'll be able to spend 2 or 4 years thinking about the new company and will have a head start to get it rolling (after her employment ends).

Of course she'd have to make sure she did really get the cash out of the deal instead of some goofy buy out offers that include an extended payout of revenue being earned by the business or some other form of buying a business with it's own money.

I've been obsessing over this since I found this thread and decided to write up a little blog post about it. I guess the key thing is to find something everyone wants and give it away for free. Since she is planning to SELL wallpapers for cellphones in the near future, maybe it would be a good idea to set up a site and give em away?

By being wrapped up in the Myspace craze. I don't like Myspace, I think most of the pages on there look like barf webpages from 1996 with lame graphics, use of color and way too loud bad music that begins to play when you load up the page. The fact that a lot of people are making a lot of money from Myspace related businesses speaks loudly about the appeal of that website.
