What was your biggest mistake as a newbie to Internet Marketing?
I think mine was trying different systems and not sticking with one and one only until mastering it.

    Buy a link on a PR7 page for 18 months on a blogspot.com page.
In addition, later the page dropped from PR7 to PR6.

A couple of years back I purchased traffic that wasn't useful.

Yes i agree with you cleanwater the reason is they read about people doing 20k deals here thinking they will be doing that tomorow when really it is very diffrent and can take months to earn a few pennys per day! and years to get where some people are at right now!

I spent way too long making my sites pretty and twiddling with the code and design - and nowhere near enough time promoting or getting back links.

Lesson #1: 99% of the world have no design sense, so it's a waste of time making pretty sites :)

Biggest mistake was not buying interesting domain names when I got first internet access.. back in 1991 or 92..
I didn't see the market opportunities, wasn't interested.. that internet thing was just cool to send mail and ftp cindy crawford pictures :)

Not taking action. This is the most popular mistake that newbies do.

To date, my biggest mistake was accidentally overwriting the index page of a live, working site with a non-functional blog template.... WHOOPS!

Oh yeah, and not having a backup... needless to say, after my site was finally restored by my web host, I made backups of EVERYTHING!!!

Using free hosting. I owned a HUGE forum about a year ago, until the host died, and so did my site.

*sigh* I could've sold that site for thousands.

Ah well, no point dwelling in the past.

I have to disagree with you. Sometimes good design is absolutely crucial to the success of your website.

Think about buying Sex.com and Business.com just for fun back then.
By now you'd surely be a filthy millionaire. ;)

Only focusing on one method of revenue (adsense). There are many ways to earn online, you must experiment and find out the best program for you. I've had more success with affiliate marketing than adsense.

I also agree with those that mentioned buying the good domains back in the 90's. :)

Thats a good point. I think that adsense and PPC are too advanced for a newbie. I've been trying selling affiliate products without any success yet. But I'm not giving up.

Spamming on internet forums is the worst thing you can do, especially here.
