If I know of a website that has MP3's on it, that you can download for free and I link to it, am I going to get in trouble. ie Site A has MP3 on server I link to that MP3 from my site Even though Im not hosting the MP3 and Im linking to it, is that illegal/wrong etc? Cheers
Yeh, this is what I thought. But I thought I read somewhere that even linking to them could get you in trouble....
With the law? No. Well, each state has a different set of laws but as far as I know, it's not illegal.
Hosting it = warez Linking it = warez warez = illegal in US Illegal in US = yes it is illegal if the servers are located in US
OK. But these MP3's can be easily found by using Google. In theory, what you are saying, Google would be in trouble. Google would be linking to them, wouldnt they?
Google is the boss , you would not want it to be taken down , what I could say is it's the spiders who indexed those pages , not Google staff who did that. Maybe there's a rule saying that " only search engines are allowed to host links to warez stuff "
