I have been testing out Civicspace which is based off of the Drupal platform. It is very impressive and search engine friendly. Although, it could use an easy to modify template system.
Hmm... theirs a site somewhere (opensourcecms.org) or something like that. You can demo pretty much all of them.
I use Mambo for one site of mine. It's good but I really dislike its OpenSEF. Risk of duplicate url is very high. So now i'm working on a new site(yes site, not blog) and i'm using WordPress! Takes a bit of re-coding, but its SEF urls is really nice. Here's the guide to use WordPress as a CMS: http://www.alexking.org/blog/2005/03/22/wordpress-as-cms/ http://www.alexking.org/blog/2005/03/23/wordpress-hacking/
www.opensourcecms.com is what mdvaldosta was referring to and it profiles and demos more than just CMS. It's a must-have bookmark!
I personally prefer using Textpattern (textpattern.com) for development of most of my sites. It allows me to put my code where I want, making layout in it is just as easy as making static site. Just need to put your HTML code in the forms from admin panel. I am using it on my company site as well as couple of client sites. There is one more CMS called Modx (modxcms.com) it allows you to enter diff meta tags, titles for diff pages / section. But I personally found Textpattern better than Modx..may be because I am used to Textpattern. Regards, Deep
Have you tried HotcakesCMS? This can be downloaded from Sourceforge by typing in hotcakescms It is ASP based with simple access database and is very easy to use. Comes with user manual and how to setup with either FTP or on own server.
I found drupal very easy to use, but very limited in what it does. If it does what you want out of the box, it would be great.
I use Drupal. SEO friendly URL see this post for detailed on Drupal http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=41689
