How are old outdated listings managing to get in the top 3 local business results for certain keywords? Is there any way to bump them out? In this instance each 3 results are out of business listings... how do we optimize for this even with a real good address?
Results are based on the location of your business in relation to the search. It can take over a month to show up on the main search page. When they update google maps, usually about once a month or so.
If the firms are no longer in business, I doubt that they're bidding on high local placement... I think that the normal Google algo comes into play with which local results are shown. If a business no longer operates, but still has a website up, Google doesn't differentiate between a defunct business and a thriving but new business.
