Marketing for vBulletin Forums

I would like to ask experienced admins the following:

Q. What are the top marketing techniques that you use in promoting your forums?

Q. What additional software tools, or vBulletin add-ons do you use to marketing your forums.

My goal is to compile a report on the trends in marketing for forums, specifically vBulletin powered.

Yes - I've heard of that one.

However - I'm more interested in non-SEO type marketing.

 

I would say:

1. Forum Posting
2. Web 2.0 Design
3. Content of the Site and Originality

For vB Mods I would suggest:

1. Anything that helps improve the forum; vbSEO, vbPlaza, vBadvanced, etc.
2. Anything that improves forum layout and maintenance; [AJAX] Mods, Spam Prevention, Forum Statistics, etc.
3. Anything that helps the forum Users; vBSociable, Recent Blog Posts Feed, Fast Reply Form, etc.

Oh I see. Well it is really high priced 149$. I wanted to buy it but as a 15 yr old it's pretty expensive, more than vB itself.

I've purchased VBSeo and am very happy with the results.

I think one of the best ways to get quality posts on a new forum is to add a lot of quality content, quotes from people in the niche, videos form the forum or related podcasts.

It also never hurts to get a little controversy going, although that's coming from the marketer in me
