Vista is a complete waste of time and will probably cut down your productivity unless you have over 2gb of ram. If you have that much memory then go for it, otherwise i'd stay well clear.
I have only 765mb of RAM, and it is much faster. Most people who say they hate it havnt even seen it in operation. (Jealously)
Have you tried to search on this forum for other vista threads before starting your own? Loads of posts, tons of opinions that you might find helpful when deciding whethere to upgrade or not, just take a look.
good looking but that's all ! nothing more ! it's like when XP was developed ! no wan like it but it becomed the most used after some time ! after some issues have been solve ! That is the future of vista also ! When they will fix the drivers problems and the software issues all will be just find ! for now i personally stick to XP for Now !
Its only quicked for loading applications because their loaded somewhat. you need a good spec for it though.
Our grad school postponed getting new computers this year because the new machines all came with Vista. The IT dept. had determined that too many things didn't work on it. I just bought a new machine with Vista on it. Although I like the interface, I'm bummed that my HP Officejet 3030 doesn't work on it. Its about 3-4 years old. At first, HP had an updated Vista driver at their site, but it didn't work when I tried installing it. Now, HP's site simply says that the OJ 3030 isn't support on Vista, please purchase a newer printer!
Vista install takes 7GB of hard drive. http://news.com.com/8301-10784_3-9768026-7.html?part=rss&subj=news&tag=2547-1_3-0-5
On my laptop which has a "designed for vista" sticker on it, vista makes the graphics chip work overtime, laptop overheats seriously to the point it burns my hand. Installed XP, and the laptop hardly ever heats up past body temperature. On that point alone, I'll stick with XP.
