Hi Everyone, I have a general question about PR. Does it matter whether my links come from a good or bad position on a page? Considering I'm not looking for direct traffic. The only consideration is getting a better PR score to my website... For example: I have one link from the top menu of PR3 page, and a similar link from another PR3 page, but this time from the bottom. Thanks guys..
There has been speculation that a link in different spots on a page do effect the weight of link. Bottom of the page being the least amount of PR and middle page within the content or top-left being the most PR. I'd suggest doing your own testing and see for yourself.
Your PR is influenced mainly by other sites providing back-links. However, it is wise to avoid the footer region for targets.
I think it won't hurt your site as long as you don't link back to bad site. There's no way to stop other site to link to your site unless you email the webmaster to removed your links from their site.
position of the link is not important. if the link exist with an anchor txt, that link will effect the page rank
The only way it effects your site is from a clicked link value. Any link above the fold is always a better bet for click through rate. Only the number of outbound links on the site will have an effect on the PR juice of the link and not the position. As for a link from a bad neighbourhood site, this can't harm you (from a PR & Serps point of view) otherwise your competitors would just buy links in your name from trashy sites. Its the sites you link to that you have to be worried about - you have control over that therefore it is these that are seen as having more importance.
Position of a link on a page does not affect the PR flow. However, if you have 2 pr 3 pages from where you can get the link, check which one has greater number of outbound links on them..the one with the least will give you the maximum share or PR and link juice
