Biggest diamond ever found

On Monday 27 August 2007, the recordbooks for the biggest diamond ever found was rewritten. More than double the size of the previous record holder, the Cullinan diamond. The Cullinan diamond was found in 1905 and weighted 3100ct, and the new found treasure comes to about 7000ct.
What a record, isn't it? Being in the diamond industry, I can roughly value (heavily depending on its colour, shape and clarity) the diamond on $10 000/ct. That is an amazing $70 million. But because of it's size, I recon it will reach closer to $100 million.

Amazing, and surely a record that will last a long long time!

According to my sources the Kohinor of India was only 186ct. So yes, its 36,63 times bigger.

Search google for - news24 biggest diamond ever. Unfortunately I can't place the link. Some people believe it to be fake according to News24, but radio news in South-Africa said "according to our sources its real and in a safe place in Jo'burg".

I want to know if the miners that found it sold it for $10 maybe?

I watched it on CNN, they take their diamons to some man in a chair with about $1k on him, who gives them for $1-3 per diamond!

Yes, the diamond business is as dirty as the drug business, so naturally that could very well be the way it happened. The big diamond companies in South Africa, Israel and England are exploiting african workers in the most terrible ways.
