Nick, an eloquent, eminently well thought out, post, in my opinion.

To answer your question, no, I wouldn't answer my child in this way. But then, my child comes to me for guidance. Dcristo sought no guidance; he is not a child; he is posing a way to raise children that I believe is harmful in the extreme; and concluded by naming my view, in various ways, "dangerous." Further, he did so from a flawed position, presuming a "knowing," and that those of us flatly against this live in some Xanadu, another world. I don't want to raise dcristo, so no, I didn't speak to him as my child. I did disabuse him of his illusions regarding learned experience, at least as I learned it, and views formed therein.

    Thanks for the compliments.

I assumed he was young (teenager) and that his "knowing" was thus normal teen attitude to life.

But I wasn't suggesting you should want to raise him!

You may not have seen it - he's 25; and from his august age, lumped my thoughts into a "dangerous" world of "fantasy," etc.

No worries, Nick. Yours was a very thoughtful post, and I could take a lead from your compassionate response.

kids should stay away from porn and extreme content like images of dead bodies etc..coz it will going to effect their studies and other activities badly.

there is a age requirement for doing everything.. kids cant make good decisions parents are the one who guides them.

Why no porn for Kids? Are you serious? Kids don't need that kind of filth in there minds. We are suppose to be teaching kids the diffrence between right and wrong and if you can't see that porn is bad you need to check yourself into a mental hospital.

I can understand that kids shouldnt see pictures of corpses and such, but porn c'mon.I have a estranged son who i had when i wasnt ready for a child (16) hes now getting on 5 and at that age i would never let him watch pornography. But,when you get to the age of 13 or 14,you try drink, smoking and even watch porn.
I'd never let my son start smoking (i know the struggle of how to quit).Il let him drink certain alcoholic beverages (wine, weak beers) and id let him watch Heterosexual Porn.
You got to be firm yet lenient.

Right, so how would you feel if it was say a 50 year old "friend of the family" who was secretly encouraging your 13 year old to watch it? Presumably you'd think that was dangerous?

Or if you'd had a daughter rather than a son? Would you still feel comfortable? You've already admitted you had a child too early - yet you seem happy to repeat the mistake a bring a child up in a manner likely to lead them to act with a similar disrespect for themselves and their partner as you had.

And why the line on hetrosexual porn and no other? So one is right and one is wrong for a kid to see in your eyes?

And if your estranged partner finds out you happily encourage your kid to watch it, you're hapy for the court to withdraw your rights to see him (at a minimum) as, presumably even in your country of free speech, encouraging a minor to watch it is illegal?

Age related laws are obviously somewhat arbitrary... but I think the no-porn for under 18 rule is generally good. I know I watched plenty before I was 18, but I think the problem with it is for a really immature kid it can present a very unrealistic idea of how women and men interact in a relationship.

Especially some of the harder stuff out there, for young men to expect young women to do some of that stuff is a bit unfair.

Plus, hell, these people are PROFESSIONALS - it stands a good chance of making real sex seem like a bit of a let down, know what i mean!?

I dont believe in Queer Porn for religious Reasons.I'm a Good Citizen of Britain and of the United States, both of which im a law abiding citizen. However i do protest the drinking age in the states which i will reach in a few months time. The whole R rated business is a sham, from my apartment the nearest porn shop is 2 blocks away.
If they dont want to sell it too minors then dont sell it in convenience stores!

because your childen might love it and then become either prostitutes or pornstars instead of ceo's or whatever else you wish they could become. They can also become fat porn addicts that sit in their mama's basement all day and watch. So many reasons, A child is under the supervision of his parents, and if your parents dont allow it then too bad, if you respect your parents then follow their rules, if not go ahead have fun and watch :-D

It's a worthless waste of a childs mind. To young to understand fully the implications of their actions.
You'll never become an alcoholic without drinking alcohol. Many people now are having problems with addictions to porn. To many things start early in life (drinking alcohol, smoking, drugs etc.) No need for porn in a childs life.

For a Child of 10 years old,the chances of getting laid are unlikely.
    Also stop bringing up islam.

The way porn potrays women is very unrealistic. Imagine a kid thinking that all women like this kind of sex? You would have rapest all over the place without them understanding why it's bad? There just doing what they learned when they where small.

It is not because the kid is watching porn, but their parent's lack of education.

    Education beat censorship
