If ever I have a child..I will not allow him to watch porn..Because I believe that there is always a time for that..Maybe when they are on the right age and they already know the difference of right and wrong..^_^
Well, I certainly can't say I haven't looked at porn. Lol, I'm a teen what do you expect? XD In the end of the day, sex is just sex. You can't exactly put a leash on your kid telling them not to have sex. Sadly, I've lost my virginity already and I regret it but I guess that's a life lesson for me. Sex is something that is hard to teach, especially when trying to explain when the right time is. Pre-teens having sex is just wrong, plain and simple. Teens having sex is a touchy subject. Sure you can tell your kid when the right time is to have sex, but another person's parents will say something else. When they meet, 1 may think they are ready, the other may not. It should only be done if you know you are doing it without pressure. Don't do it if you feel it's the only way to stay together with your mate. Only do it when you truly feel it is right. Well, that's my 2c.
There are no consequences. In most European countries, porn is available on prime time tv. Even in Canada you'll see lots of nudity. Only in the U.S. do they make such a big deal about a woman's breast being exposed, yet no one on this forum seems to care about shows that have murder and death every 5 minutes. According to your arguments, kids should be out there killing people all the time.
As per normal here society broad labeling of kids is to blame mostly for this topic. It's all very well to say no kid should ever look at porn, but my definition of kid ends at 13, I should think most of yours don't. Do I think it's wrong for a 13 year old to look at porn? Nope not one bit. After-all as much as you may all say things about it I am sure most of when you was younger did! Do I think it should be legal to do so? Nope. The idea of it being wrong stops kids from becoming to 'into' it. And then becomes the next topic, really how many teenagers coming onto being adults would understand much about sex if it was not for porn? Do you think your parents would say "right son, place that in there then you make the woman.." no. Porn is natural as a aid to learning. While this can be easily dabated, it's something worth thinking about. But then comes the other side of the issue, what happens if this teenager then starts looking at porn which does not suit even for a adult, rape, child porn etc, how would you punish a teenager who does not fully understand the social ties behind the act of porn. It's a very hard to talk about issue with many people, and I am sure religious groups will keep pushing the age back from which people are legally allowed to look at porn.
I used to watch porn when i was 14 and now i make love to donkeys, gamble and i can't open a beer with my teeth. On a serious note... As Alec Graig said in 1979, "Erotic realism reflects a basically healthy and therapeutic attitude to life, and its effects on the average person are generally beneficial." I think that if porn was clean/softcore it would have been fine in small doses for educational purposes. However porn itself will then have to be censord. I mean... What will an 8 year old think when he sees a girl being done by 4 blokes and all possible ways? Defenetely a no no...
You keep giving sarcastic eyerolls, are you saying that you are being sarcastic? Anyway, I have taken a Developmental Psychology course in college, I don't remember any study that talked about porn. So which study are you referring to?
why not? I will watch with him and teach him stuff. It will be much better for him than getting wrong info from his 15 years old friend. and if it is a girl, no doubt i will tell her sex is evil you know he is going to get it somewhere else, so why not give it to him with correct information and advice in the first place?
children under the age of 16 shouldnt be allowed,16 or older then sure. I still think Violent Films should be kept 18 rated.
You are a sick, sick %$#$%. If you're saying this crap for kicks, congrats, you've got at least one person's blood boiling. If not, you need to be put away.
I am not taking 5 years old, but like 13-14 or above.. Different people raise their kid in different way. I don't know if you are those religious people or not..but i won't be raising my child by hiding information from them. Beside porn i will also give them cigarette and alcohol. I will let them know what are those and what are the consequence of abusing it
Honestly, if my parents had taken the time to teach me that, I probably wouldn't have tried any of the three. (Porn, Cigarettes and Alcohol.)
Kids that are 13-14 years old still make irrational decisions. I know I did. That doesn't mean you don't know the difference between right and wrong, it just means that you are more likely to choose the wrong decision.
Just to play devil's advocate a moment, if your own child had asked you this question, would you have answered them in the same way? The guy is clearly young, and is asking a valid question. Society chooses to impose these limits and whilst it may be obvious to anyone who has children why we have age limits on a whole variety of topics, it is not always as clear to the child. So, my two-penneth is this.... As a society, we choose to place an age limit on certain material. This is because, as a society, we belive that certain material requires a level of emotional maturity and "life experience" to fully understand. In particular, with material of a sexual nature, it is hoped (often in despair) that the viewer will realise that there is a difference between the love and physical intimacy in a proper relationship and that which is portrayed in pornographic material. It is hoped (again in despair) that the viewer will realise that the people portrayed are doing so for their own reasons and that it is not normal to view either gender as pure sex objects. Children are unable to make these distinctions. Adults, sadly, are also often unable to. But, on balance, most can by a certain age. By allowing children to view such material places them at risk. It places them at risk because they are unable to place what they are seeing in terms of a normal relationship. They may grow up believing they are expected to behave in a certain way. It places them at risk of being exposed to practices they are not yet emotionally or physically ready for. There is a reason nature does not allow the body to become mature too early. So, there is an age limit which is designed to make it difficult to see such material too early. Everyone knows kids circumvent this - they always have. And in a way, that is part of the normal development process - are there really any guys on here who didn't find themselves sniggering over a magazine at 15 with their mates? However, it has become a little too easy these days! The prohibition of such material from minors is not designed to keep them in the dark about sex per se. It does, however, allow parents to make decision about when their children are ready to learn about sex, and allow them to set the explanation within a framework of love and relationship rather than one of pure physical and selfish gratification. So, its done for your own good because society as a whole believes it a positive thing to do.
