Hey Guys, Just something I want to throw out their to see what the general opinion is. I am currently working on a site that has 1000+ pages, it is using the same heads and nav style for a good 600 of those pages. My question is this. Should I use alt text for the image buttons across the top of the nav or will the repetition of the same alt text on so many pages cause a problem. The alternative is to leave them blank i suppose.
I would always use alt text. It won't be a problem. Most sites have the same navigation system duplicated on all the pages.
I think either option would be fine. I'd personally insert an empty alt txt, as in alt="" rather than just leaving the images without tags. I don't think nav alt tags really have alot of affect on seo nowadays anyway.
The navigation alt tags work exactly the same as anchor text so they are pretty important if you want your main pages to rank.
Yeah I would really prefer to use text but I didn't do the web design Best to maybe use keyword rotated alts then i.e "Mydomain Home" and "more about mydomain"
Having the alt tag will definitely helps in usability for people that are using screen readers. Search engines understand that and they would not penalize this situation.
Hi, As I know you should not have any problem with the navigation it self. Maybe, if you put in all img alt tags in all pages the same text, than you might be considered as... Regards
