What do you think about marilyn manson, i just discover him 2 days ago and i am so inspired by his style, his music and his personality that i am listening to him and loving it. I want to know general conception about him in America and Britain. Thanks
In America he is well-liked by many early twentysomethings and some teenagers who are more hardcore goth and not emo goth (those kids are into Fall Out Boy and that kind of music). He is absolutely hated by parents and religious, often to the point that they protest outside his concerts. I wouldn't call myself a fan, but I do like some of his music. He's a surprisingly intelligent person and he just likes to mix things up and get reactions from people. Time and time again he's shown that he has the ability to win a debate against the leaders of the religious and parental groups who oppose him.
He's not a freak, he's just a musician cashing in on teenage rebellion and disaffection. Musicians have been doing that for decades! What do you think KISS and Alice Cooper and Elvis Presley were all about?? Plus at least Marilyn Manson isn't getting involved in shootings and gang associated crimes like some rappers/hip-hop artists. The guy is pretty OK and doesn't say anything offensive or insulting to people.
Like others have said already, he's actually a pretty intelligent guy. I haven't heard of any his music, but apparently a lot of teens like it. I agree.

I think he's fairly intelligent and obviously he's good at what he does. His music sells doesn't it? He only shocks people that have no understanding of individuality or art. Usually right wing, fundamentalists.

I think M M is very unique. his music, and his personalty. although , in my opinion, he goes to far on stage, but that might be rock'n'roll style, no doubt he will be remembered for his shocking videos
Marylyn Manson is a freak. Thats not a necesarilly bad thing though. Still, he can't possibly be compared to Alice Cooper or Elvis Presley. Kiss is understandable though. (KISS kicks)
