which is the best CMS to use for a shopping cart or e commerce solution?

i've recently tried installing a shopping cart plugin on wordpress and virtuemart on joomla...

do you believe either of them can make for a decent shopping cart solution?

Which shopping plugin have you used with wordpress? Have you tried the one called WP e-commerce over at http://www.instinct.co.nz/e-commerce/ by a company out of Australia. I've used it on a couple of WordPress installations and I've found it works well. So far I do believe they work mostly with PayPal for the payment option. But if that's what you need - it works.

yup thats the one i used as well.

i believe virtuemart can handle other payment options besides paypal as well?

    though i really hate joomla's non-SEF urls...they just suck!

that's why I don't even take Joomla seriously anymore, that is the #1 thing they should have fixed a long time ago...

VirtueMart supports a ton of payment processors including:

    PayPal
    PayPal Pro
    Authorize.net
    2CheckOut
    PayFlow
    eCheck
    eWay
    WorldPay

And so much more, its an amazing shopping cart app, from taxes to shipping modules you can't go wrong without it.

Yes Joomla doesn't have great SEF URLs but you can install a simple component to solve that problem.
