I blame parents. Is it really that hard to teach kids enough about ethics that they don't try to cheat the system for a few bucks? When Google says no they mean no and your parents aren't above Google. It's not like your mom telling you no and then going to your dad to get a yes. Before parents go about helping their kids out they should be well aware of what exactly they're signing up for. As with any job, I'd expect my daughter to work from the bottom up. The bottom for web-sites is either using existing free tools like Blogger or paying a small fee for hosting and a domain through companies like GoDaddy. Part of the problem is letting kids have what they want without learning about the costs involved. If kids had money coming out of their own pocket to support their hobby they'd be less inclined to mess with something that helps put money back into their pocket. The internet is pretty much the modern day lemonade stand for kids. And like lemonade stands, it takes responsible parents to teach their kids enough business sense to not water down the lemonade to try to make more money.
And who are you to judge Father Christmas! I might know more about Google Adsense, websites, programming and internet marketing than you do. - Who knows...? Yeah, it is against Google's TOS. But you know what; I have teach myself all these things. And I'm proud of what i have done. >Is it really that hard to teach kids enough about ethics that they don't try to cheat the system for a few bucks? About ethics! Okay, just tell me who suffer when i sign up an account, make a blog and write articles (the first thing i did...)! Cheat the system! Why do you care? Why are you so smart? Why do you think no kid can do what you have done? And what if a kid did just the same as you? Would it still be beastly!? And sorry, it is a bit more than a few bucks... >As with any job, I'd expect my daughter to work from the bottom up. Hmm? Like everyone else. Could you please tell me how you cheat the system and do not work from the bottom up? If you got such informations you could be very rich. >When Google says no they mean no and your parents aren't above Google. Should'nt we let Google speak for itself? To me you sound like a stupid american... Be cool. By the way, my parents don't know that I'm using Google Adsense
For the record, I agree completely with what he wrote. Starting underage is already starting with one violation of TOS under your belt.
the 18 + is just if you get in a legal dispute - they cant take kids to court i had adsense and earned $200+ a month when i was underage
read this article about a 16 year old girl who make $700 to $900 a month through Google AdSense with a neopets blog...... http://news.com.com/8301-10784_3-9753204-7.html I talked about it and they might sign up for me... Do any body reccomend this?????????? BTW, if you search google for: teenagers adsense this thread would be the first in google.
I had used Adsense, and I was under a business name, xD I'm only 16. But, I had legal documents to keep my account with them. But, I soon found that Yahoo! Publisher's payout is a lot better. So, I changed to them.
I'm sure there's a very good reason you can't talk to your parents about your business ventures. If you lose your account and the money you earned and the potential to earn money when you are 18, don't whine to us. If you were smart, you'd get your parent's permission to avoid potentially killing your golden goose. Let's see, getting an extra couple years of income before you're 18 OR waiting a few years and getting decades of extra income. Or, safetly earning extra income just by talking to your parents and getting their permission. Decisions, decisions... Under 18 does not make you immune to legal trouble. If Google wanted to make a legal case of it, they probably could. As it is, they just take the money you have no rights to and ban you for life. A far more diplomatic approach. For the first few years I just developed my web-sites out of pocket. By the time AdSense rolled around I was able to make money from day one. As long as they're mature enough to follow the rules of AdSense so they don't get themselves banned in the pursuit of the almighty dollar, I'd highly recommend parents help their kids monetize their on-line ventures. With GoDaddy it costs at most $9 a year to get your kid started and could be as little as free. Cost isn't a barrier. And building web-sites can be as educational as you want it to be. Your kid can learn programming or how to write or design or whatever.
Exactly, it has nothing to do with who knows more about Adsense or programming or anything like that. The rule is there for legal reasons. Google would have a lot more trouble on its hands if they got in a legal dispute with a 15 year old than if they had the same problem with a 18 year old. Darn kids can get away with anything.
1 - Yeah, and the reason is simply because of their knowledge about the internet... 2 - Come on Father Christmas! First, they will not ban my account. Second, if they do, 94% of what i have earn is in my bank account and more than 4% is in my PayPal account. 3 - Wha?
To all you youngsters don't worry. Its normal for old people to look down at young people who are doing as good as themselves and then to start getting negative. It doesn't have to happen though. Im an old person and am very happy with the youngsters succeeding using adsense. KalvinB is just being grumpy, because hes maybe not doing as well as some people 20 years younger than him, which is normal in retrospect. So congratulations to all our teenage successes.
I didn't say you weren't smart. I said it's not smart to violate the rules risking a lifetime ban just to make a few bucks. Especially when a simple talk with the parents will suffice. There's no shortage of people who think they're smart and break other rules to try to make a few extra bucks and also get themselves banned for life. There's no shortage of teenagers who lose their accounts for being underage and when they turn 18 they still won't be able to cash in with AdSense. All because they couldn't just take the time to talk to their parents and get their parents to help them out. Obviously warning you about this just means I'm grumpy. It has nothing to do with looking out for your and other teenagers' best interests.
I've been using AdSense for more than an year now; I'm 17 at the moment. I had to use my parent's account.
I was 14 when I signed up for adsense, there's nothing wrong IMO with doing it at a young age, if you abuse the system you get banned, so no one gets hurt and it allows young people who know what they are doing to make money...
I know alot of teenagers who are making money with adsense. The nice thing about this business is that AGE doesn't Matter. I wish I could go back in the past and instead of partying, I could of worked online.
