I left my job, but not only for Adsense, I have several online sources of income.

If you have all your eggs in one basket you would be really dumb if you quit your job.

    I reccomend the following:

    - Content Sites that make money from adsense.
    - Affiliate program that makes you passive income (our site http://www.americancell.com pays $35/sale including when you sell FREE phones!)
    - Open your own online store
    - Sell stuff on Ebay
    - Do a little consulting in the areas you know best

Those are some things I reccommend.

Always have several ways to make a living if you can.

    Good Luck!

I was working as a telecom engineer in the Mobile company Hutch.
I left my job this year january to work on my Web business ful time. but before leving the job i made sure
    1. I got 4 stable sites with stable Income
    2. I got few clients with continuous work (As I run a web development company)
    3. I have enough backup to make and run more website.

IMO leaving your full time day job is a daring step, but if you want to secure your future in WWW sooner or later you have to do it.
Just keep in mind before taking this step make sure you have enough backup to survive.

I left my day job. Adsense is probably about 25% of what I earn from the Net. The rest? Bet you would like to know!

dammit i wish i could leave my day job!! I am only at the start of my career though so i shouldnt complain and i am getting SEO and web development experience as part of my job so i guess i am in a good position. I have plenty of ideas to earn money outside of the job it just feels like it is going to take years before i have set it all up and it becomes established enough for me to quit my job!

    No time duration.
As soon as you get the feeling that you're secure and you have stable sites (at least 3) with stable earning(Depends on your location) in 5 digits or more/Month.
then only think to leave your job.
It had taken 8 months for me to leave the job.

From what you guys have said, and from my own plans i am hoping to be able to leave my day job and set myself up in about 12 months. I am still young and have nothing tying me down either so i guess it makes taking risks a lot easier!
