outsourcing design and development to india

    any thoughts on this? has anyone had any luck outsourcing to india? we have a project listed on elance, and the companies in india are the only ones that have responded.

    I don't think there's any debate about the quality of the work. Indians can design and code just like others around the world can, but the issue that's usually raised is the ethical issue of "should we outsource our jobs" and take that work away from Americans.

    The above doesn't necessarily reflect my own opinion... that's just what comes up a lot.

    I do not agree. It really depends what you need. If you need just a design - yes, might be a good idea. But if you need a website for "US, UK, AU Audience" I would choose USA based company. WHY? Simply because USA designers know the psychology of American customer.

    This is not just an oppinion. Many USA based companies went to India, China, etc for web design but then they had to ether:
    1. Fully redesign website
    2. Prepare all materials, structures, links, etc themselves and closely monitor designers, so all the'd do is just "code".

    I am pursuing Masters in Marketing, we had same topic several times.
