Who uses their website purely as a business for the real world?

so many people here have sites with only an online presence. Anyone have a business in the real world and use the site as a tool and getting more leads from internet users?

I would have to say that you have a higher probability of success in the offline world. There are tons of people here and on the net who are promoting their online sites, you are competing against them. But if you can make it the offline world, your internet knowledge would really give you biz a boost compared to the average user.

For example I have a tutoring company that person to person in home tutoring with certified teachers. Anyone else have a similar offline setup?

Mixing offline and online may increase business by quite a bit if you do it successfully and depending on your niche of course :)

Online to offline -> is tricker, rather than offline to online imo (for retail stores for example) as online business set up is less costly.

The second site in my sig is both.....online and offline....and they complement each other very well. My online activities have brought me offline customers (retail and wholesale) and vice-a-versa.

Yeah, I'm based in THailand and have an offline business. We use www.artfromsteel.com to market it to overseas clients.

    Best wishes,

    Hehe,

I'd like to mix my websites with an offline job, I have several adult websites and I can think of one way to mix business with pleasure (I mean offline business).

Slightly offtopic (as it's not about creating an offline business), but using offline media for online shops can be really useful and is far less tricky.

I guess I don't have to explain a lot more than the word 'flyers' for example :)

I am leveraging my website strictly for offline leads. That is for my IT Solutions business (Tri Megatech). All of the work we do (aside from web design) is all locally based in the MD/DC/Northern VA area. I do adwords campaigns to target local users that will hopefully turn into a lead, which is a call and/or using our contact form to get in touch with us for services.

I do the same thing in Atlanta for my consulting firm, CustomBytes. Use online as a marketing tool to get clients to use my (offline) services and use adwords to drive local traffic to the web site. It usually adds 2-3 customers per year to me batch of existing customers.

FreelanceLocalTech is entirely online and designed to drive more traffic to other freelance/micro-business consultants' online and offline contact points and we do a lot of online advertising for that as well.

I ran my web design company as a purely offline company for the most part, and we used our website for information purposes during offline marketing activities.

Then, I taught myself SEO, and I'm starting to pull in 10-12 queries per day with people asking me about my services. By the end of the year, my online revenue will greatly exceed my offline revenue.

My sites all tend to be informational based sites and are 100% internet related. If I wanted to go brick-and-mortar then I would obviously have a website to support the business I had, but it makes more sense to me to sit around in my underwear and collect checks everyday.

I have been doing this since 1995 and have just incorporated this year. I find no need nor any desire to be out in the 'real world'.
