I currently have a site, thats still building visitors each day, and making me some pretty good money. It is currently not in the top spot yet for the key term I want, but number 2, and 4 for the terms I am going after. I also have 2 new sites I am building, and know I will make a killing on them. The question I have is it worth submitting my main site to more directories until I get all the key terms in number 1, or start submitting and paying for my new sites, and try and get them up there as well. What usually increases profits more, the number 1 spot, or a few sites with top 10 spots in general? My budget is going to be around $500 for the month.
I say a few in the top ten is better than one in the top spot. I would spread the money around to all three sites and use it as needed to build the sites. Don;t overlook many of the free directories and free links to save you money on advertising and building links. Good Luck !
I think you already got a pretty good answer from allout. I will like to add is, being in Top 5 of Google's page#1 is usually enough. What I mean to say is, if people are searching for term xyz, they are most likely to go through first few listing rather than just Top one. So, it's better to share your budget among all of your sites. May be spend $250 on your main site and the rest $250 on other two. That way, you might be able to get one spot up for main project and at the same time, better ranking for others. It will be a perfect WIN Just my $.02
First off all, no one will be able to guarantee you the top spot for any given keyword no matter how much time and how much money you will spend. Ask any respectable SEO guy and you will get a similar answer. I would say to invest your money in your two new sites now as from my point of view it is more important to get them good rankings instead of shooting for the top spot with your first site
Neither you have got to look for the buyers and convince them you are still going to around for awhile. Spend your money getting onto lists that the buyers use and trust but it would be best to avoid the PR (whats that? ) artists and fast talking types. Their credibility is at an all time low. No one believes directories pass traffic and you can only get yours to rank for one or two key words. Rather concentrate on selling yourself as a committed directory owner with a long shelf life. I would avoid comments like this. Someone might just get the wrong idea.
Im not a directory owner if thats what you suggest. I make money purely off adsense revenue, and seo techniques. I was just asking if it's better to spread out or to submit a single site.
Actually, a 2006 Cornell University study showed the following percentage of clicks on Google's first page SERPs: #1 result = 56% #2 result = 13.5% #3 result = 9.8% #4 result = 4.0% http://www.seoresearcher.com/distribution-of-clicks-on-googles-serps-and-eye-tracking-analysis.htm So we can see how very, very important it is to get into Google's top three at least. And #1 is dramatically better than even #2 or #3. Aim for #1.
The more hooks you have in the water the better your chances are but how do you get listed if MFA is your bag? Sorry I had to thow that one in.
