Someone about a month ago mentioned http://www.smartpagerank.com/

    in this post.

I got an email from them telling me that my pages had updated, but they hadn't.

Anyone else get this message last night?

That site is supposed to email you the moment there is an update.

Yes I got 4 emails like that on 4 of my domains -- I checked my rankings and nothing has changed on the 4 of them.

I have had 11 of my 70+ domains change PageRank a few weeks back. Still waiting on the others to change. :(

Ok, that site started as a blatant plagiaristic rip off of the DNScoop site valuation tool, and it looks like maybe the owners are possibly still being dishonest by sending out fake emails in order to just get people to visit their site. I wouldn't trust them personally.

Does the email tell you what your new PageRanks supposedly are?

The delay is making me nervous. Who knows what Google is up to with this update, and how many more hoops they're going to make us jump through to keep our noses clean and our sites indexed.

BTW, the Stewie Griffin pic rulez this thread! Nice job man. :D

    IMHO totally incorrect.

    1. Yes, links are ONE factor in SERP.
    2. High PR (for PR sake only) links have zero effect on rankings. Links from high PR&high trust/authority sites do effect SERP, not because of their PR but from the trust value of the site.
    3. I dominate the SERP for the rankings I have targeted with 99% of our links from sites with zero or very little (1-3) PR. I guess those would be classified as "bad" links versus your "good" links.
    4. IMHO the only reason that this thread is so massive is millions of people waiting to get a little PR so they can then turn around and sell a link based on that PR.
    5. All advertising we are doing now (links) includes our banner and other text about our company which is the only real way to purchase links. By doing that I am creating CONTENT as well.
    6. The REAL reason sites achieve and keep SERP is content. New, refreshing, changing and updated CONTENT. I am so positive of this that we now publish IN HOUSE over 70,000 words per week of ORIGINAL content. Since starting that we have had a dramatic increase in our SERP. Oh, guess what? Our RETURN traffic is @50% and our BOOKMARK % is over 40%.

Goodluck with your site --and your domination.

So what are you doing on this thread??? Why are you wasting your time arguing PR sucks?
You should be adding high quality unique contents on your site:rolleyes:

I just don't get why people who rubbish PR ever show any interest on it by arguing --whereas --they are the main link buyers based on PR.

Can you show me your site--that is dominating SERPs and has backlinks only from PR1-3 sites?

If you are serious --show your site here --and I'll track each and every link of yours. We will then see how many of your backlinks have what PR.

It does not make good impression to talk without proofs. One has to show proofs to support one's arguments.

Depends on the keywords. Try the same for keywords like "cash loans" or "hotels".

This may be true or false - nobody knows anything about the "trust value" of a website (or webpage?). When I can decide to get a PR1 or PR7 links - I would take the PR7. Nobody knows exactly if this assigns some trust value to my website but everybody know for sure that the PR7 link has positive effect (number of sites cached, how often the spider will visit my site etc.)

CONTENT is the key to SERPs, that's true. For SERPs it doesn't matter if it is good content or useless content. If you produce much, unique content you will be found by SEs for many search phrases. As long as your website has some authority this will drive most traffic to your ites
