A website is said to be fully functional if it has adequate contents displayed and which is enough to make the visitor understand what the website is all about and if all the links are properly linked to appropriate pages. A website then required regular updates either done by the webmaster or any other person who have developed the website. Here are a few advantages of regularly updating your website: 1. The visitors will always come across new information on your website and if the information is useful and interesting they may visit your website again & again and look forward for further new information. 2. The display of new information will also allow you to get a top position in the search engines. As the search engines where you submit your website will regularly visit your website to search for new contents and the contents once displayed may help increase your search engine rankings. 3. With the regular updates you increase your page rank and stand a chance to be linked by other websites with a higher page rank. 4. Regularly updating your website with rich keywords will again display “Top Paying Ads†on your website and consequently generate your website revenue. If you have come across any more advantages of having a regular update done to a website then please mention, so that we could update it to our list.
Do regular updates really help or do they hurt? I've had some surprising rankings on very stale pages.
I always notice a jump in the serps when I overhaul my website. Look at all the blogs that have PR4 or 5 just because they're updated daily. I think frequent updates are very important.
Whenever i updated my website...i always found my alexa rank move upwards up by approximately 5000...what you guys think could be the reason
sometimes it's a problem. My friend's very well aged webhosting site homepage was NEVER updated...when he added one thing to it, it dropped from PR6 to PR5, where it has still been for a year...
Its funny ive seen the mix but basically looks like when a site is updated that the PR may become affected...
don't tell me...when your friend updated his site...his site's PR reduced...quite a nightmare...what do you feel could be the reason?
I honestly think that it has to do with the number of time (which was about 5 years, at least) that the home page has been left untouched. I can't imagine why Google would have adjusted the page rank down a notch for that - it was actually the addition of a couple sentences of text, not a subtraction of anything. Needless to say, it was a shock. Owning a PR6 is hard enough as it is!
As far as I know pagerank has nothing to do with content. It has everything to do with backlinks. But a sites serps has a lot to do with content. The drop in pr was probably coincidental, I cant see a site getting penalised for adding a couple of sentences.
i too hold the same opinion...its the back links that affect a site's PR...updating a site and that too adding some content...and then getting your PR altered sounds quite unusual...i think like regencytimberbuildings said its should be a coincidence.
Well, an interesting discussion to be sure ... perhaps it is coincidence, but I overhauled a PR5 site last year, kept the same original content, kept all the same file names to maintain indexing integrity, just gave it a new look. Dropped to PR3 within a month, has not regained PR yet. Backlinks have increased since that time too. In this game, you just have to be patient sometimes, and not have all your eggs in one basket! tasty
Updating can hurt or help you, depending on what you're updating. If you are posting articles or information, you should leave the old information on the site where someone can find it, but put the new information on, too. If possible link the old and new. If you change your copywriting (action text), and your sales drop, you have a problem with your text. Good copywriting should be motivating people to action. A new design can be helpful if it helps people find information or products more quickly or it can be bad if it makes your site unfamiliar or too complicated. Rebecca
yes ofcourse...rightly said...here in this post i mean postively updating your website regularly...once you update your website never forget to chek your stats...its only that way that you can find whether your on the right track or no...and if you find it a profitable update...carry on..or else fine tune your update procedure to avoid problems
All newbies in website development could further find such information at www.onlinemoneyblog.biz There many articles of this kind written specially to help budding web developers....it could have been easily sold in an expensive e-book...but I'm genuienly into sharing it and helping out..do make use of it
Fresh content on any website is always a good thing, especially if it is related to your website theme. @markn26, I don't think a website PR can fall due to adding content on a page. It must have been due to some drop in the backlinks.
