What's Better, Blog or Website?

For overall traffic and monetizing which is better, a website or a blog? I've heard that Google prefers blogs over websites. Is this true? If I have a niche that I want to create a content site for (say 200-300) pages, which would be better, a blog or a website? I'm thinking monetizing with adsense and a couple of affiliate products.

What do ya think?

Blogs can be easily set up. With the numerous plugins available today, maintaining it is not a difficult job.

You want something for a content site of 200-300 pages ? A site then.

 

well website is better option as compare ti blog..
to increase traffic nothing is better than website..
google prefers contents of pages whether it is blog or website..
so go on...

 

A site seems more logical

Blogs typically have rotating content on the homepage and the same content (or 3-20 most recent posts) is available through categories or dates and such.

Websites will typically have the same content on the homepage, at least in the main body, and then "Latest News" or whatnot is the rotating content part.

Google knows the difference between the two, trust me. It's been my experience that blogs will get indexed more often, but websites will get a higher PR.

If you want higher traffic, I'd say go with the blog. For more targeted traffic, a website.

 

The defination for website have changed recently. People are using pre installed script to create website. Rather then creating blog it is better to use some cms. LIKE JOOMLA, MAMBO,etc.So people are using forums software liek vbbulleiten or phpbb. For blogs they are using wordpress. And for shopping site they are using oscommerce. So my friend their

 

i wonder when did blogs stop being websites?

 

For me, blogs are 100x more effective for instant traffic from Google then I ever was with websites.

I use CuteNews as my blog. Prefer it over Wordpress. But Advanced version of cutenews (with SEO friendly links) at: english.cutenews.ru/forum

 

If u want to create a content site for (say 200-300) pages then i would recommend u to go for a website rather than Blog.

on the 'google loves blogs' tip - I subscribe to google alerts to get a heads up on what's new in my niches, and it's always loads of blog stuff and a few other types of websites. In part, of course, it's because that's the nature of blogs, they are frequently updated - but it does demonstrate that google crawls blogs and indexes new content from them very regularly.

 

I don't think google have preference on either. There are web site made with blog system or other cms system. The content and the keywords are more important. I see blog is better for a niche.

 

Blogs gets updated frequently as compared to websites.So, the crawler comes more often in blogs but for 200-300 pages, its better if you go for website.

you can put adsense on blog as well as a site.

 

100% sure Blogs are better, for me atleast they perform way better in the serp results.

 

Both are different and both are important in own field.
