I hear that there is really good money to be made in blogging these days if you do it right. I am thinking that beside the freelance work that I do, I would like to start up a little blog and see where I can get it to go. My topic for this blog would be along the lines of graphic tips and tutorials. Do you think there is anywhere or any chance of going anywhere with this? Is the topic one that has a chance?
You will need to have an excellent domain name and be willing to submit your tutorials to larger sites such as pixel2life.com to generate traffic. Keep in mind, there are lots of tutorial websites out there, but there is a demand for unique tutorials.
Would video tutorials be an option? I am loaded with a ton of information when it comes to graphics. I floated around the web and forums doing all kinds of different types of graphic work for over three years so I can make tons of video tutorials
Video tutorials would be a great option, because they're pretty unique and you have that option of marketing on vid sharing sites like YouTube. Unless your text tutorials would differ greatly from the thousands of others on the internet, I would try video tutorials if they're in your time budget.
text tutorials arent in my time, it takes so long to write one darn tutorial but 10 minutes to plan out a vid tut and 5-30 to record it. I would need to get a recording software... my problem with video tutorials is the bandwidth needed to play them on my site. How would that affect things?
It takes alot of time and work before you see any real money, but if you keep your head up it can generate some pretty good money over time. Not necessarily from the blog, but maybe you can talk about your other products and redirect tons of user to it..
I think it would be a great idea for something to do with your free time. The market for graphics tutorials is not as crowded as it might appear, because only some of it is unique content and even less is in a video format. If you're good at what you do and can make an interesting presentation, I'd say you've got a good chance of being successful with your new venture.
So I could embed the youtube video into my blog? Would that take away from my bandwidth... and I would like a little better quality videos maybe 1024x748 so what would be an option for that? thanks for the quick replies btw
yeah it's a great idea, but to even make more profit you might want to reduce it to something more specific - i.e - "graphic tips and tutorials for macintosh pc" or something like that. the more specific, the more loyal subscribers you will have on your blog. But after every post, I recommend rewriting it again, and sending it to ezinearticles.com - - link back to your homepage. to get both short-term & long-term traffic, plus the SEO.
thats my plan but I am going to use stage6 which is an "add-on" of divx so the quality is much higher. I will just embed the videos from there, but post them everywhere else too
Well, I am debating have a place where you can submit tutorials, but I am afraid that I will get mainly bad quality tutorials that I cannot submit...I am still thinking about that
Like the Nike commercial, just do it. You can put links to your site and affiliate sites in your blog, it can also be used as a further incentive for your customers to buy your product as your updated blog can provide extra value to them long after the sale and last but not least, search engine spiders absolutely love fresh content and will visit your blog far more than your static website.
