How do you backup your websites?

I currently have 10 websites, and several mySQL databases hosted in Hostgator.

I'm looking for a convenient way to backup them.

So how do you backup your websites? Or just never backup your sites at all?

Please feel free to share your experiences here, thanks :)

Backup all sites files + databases, gzip them and then ftp the backup onto a different server every night. All this done automatically through cron jobs.

I use phpmyadmin to backup my databases, and FTP to backup site files.

My host also does backups for me which i pay for.

    Thanks~

So do you use any software or service to do backups? I remember Hostgator has a full backup function.

My sites are mostly dynamic and I only backup the mysql database once a week through phpMyAdmin. Don't use other software or services.

For static sites I have a copy on my computer, which I update and then upload. For dynamic, mysql backup every once in a while.

if you have WP blogs then you can use WP database backup plugin and schedule it for daily or weekly updates...you can also schedule it to send bkp at email address.

I prefer doing it manually and that's the way I recommend doing it. Besides it doesn't take that long.

I installed the WordPress Database Backup plugin, so I get the database backups emailed to me on a daily basis.

I used to have my FTP program backup my stuff automatically... But it started failing when I needed it... I'd recommend you manually backup your stuff once a week (if it's important)... Don't rely on your host that claims daily backups (usually)...

Very basic. I back up the website to a 2GB flash drive every time I make changes. Beginning this week I'm also going to begin a weekly CD backup. And every so often I transfer the flash drive backup to my other computer's hard drive. Can't ever be too careful.
