Just out of curiousity whether anyone here has built a site primarily for adsense and is using a CMS platform like Joomla, Drupal, etc for it? Pro's cons?
I am using Mambo. It's very easy to place adsense ads on it, you can even put them inside the content by using a simple code
I have some Joomlasites with adsense. But not only for adsense! It is very simple, there are some Adsense-Modules für Joomla and also you can put the Adsense in the Template - all very easy. You can also make a modul for yourself or simply place the adsense in the content. There is also a good Joomla Component for the Google Sitemap, it makes Google Sitemaps automatically. And there is a Modul for google search and much more. chiefwiggum meant maybe "mosgoogle" it is a mambot. You can find it here: http://www.mambosphere.com/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=40&func=selectfolder&filecatid=2 It works very well in the content. bye, Wally
I have experience with both Mambo and Drupal, and I've used AdSense with both of them. I have nothing bad to say about Adsense module for Mambo, but Mambo itself is not a good choice for high (and may be even medium) traffic websites. It's not a well opimized engine and requires a lot of "code changes" if you want to handle good traffic. It becomes slow and eats a lot of server's resources. (the last version I use was 4.5.0, so I may not be 100% correct about current version). About Drupal. It's very nice CMS system. Yes, it does not look that sexy with default templates (like Mambo does), but it's very powerfull. There are tons of available modules come with it including AdSense module. The main benefit of the AdSense module for the Drupal is that it HIDES AdSense ads for YOU! In other words, if shows you (as administrator/owner of the system) simply blocks with words "Google AdSense ad placeholder here". So, you do not need to worry about ocasional clicks on your own ad. It's a good feature in my opinion. And about performance - Drupal is much more optimyzed engine (especially in caching mode), so I'd recommend at least "to check it out" if you need a CMS and have a high traffic web site.
I have a Joomla based site, for Google AdSense (!). Actually for Google AdSense modules... it's the most popular Google AdSense module set for Joomla! Joomla Google AdSense Modules ...
The way you are putting the pages on screen doesnt not have much to do with the adsense etc. I use drupal and wordpress for my sites now, i used to use mambo but got sick of it. An example of adsense in a drupal site: dashboardmonkey.com and in a wordpress site autohacks.net carpcspecialist.com Just think about how and where you want the ads. I dont use plugins etc, I just directly code the adsense into the templates and node templates, its far easier Dave
During the past weekend I tested Joomla and Typo3. I like Joomla except for the tables. Oh God! Lots of them. Typo3 is much more professional but not recommended for rookies.
I have just used drupal , But I feel some uneasy with putting ads , There is any way to put adsense inside content , ie. blending with content ?
Sidebar is cool but it cost money. Is there any Joomla modules that allow insertion of html codes in joomla which is free?
I use mambo on my sites. Turn off wysiwig editting, go to modules, click add new. Paste in your html code, change any normal options (i.e. menu, title, etc.) Save the module and turn wysiwig back on.... Pretty easy.. and free...
