Has anyone used this company? They offer very competitive merchant account rates with the authorize.net gateway. More info is here: http://www.unitedbankservice.com/ecommerce-moto.html. I am very much considering applying for a merchant account with them and would love to hear any experiences.

    Thanks,
    Kevin

    Read the fine print:

    1) They charge an annual fee. That means they will charge you a fee for being loyal to them! I'm not joking. Every year you stay with them they will charge you a fee just for staying with them. Incredible, huh?

    2) They separate their AVS fee from their transaction fee which is deceptive. Since you are required to do it on every transaction it you pay it on every transaction. Separating it from the transaction fee is their way of trying to make their fees look lower then they are.

    3) Their comparison chart is a load of crap. They did what everyone who has a comparison chart does: put bogus numbers for the competition to make their rates look better.

It's not a bad program overall, but that annual fee is BS. Tell them to waive it if they want your business. Also make sure you read all of their fine print.

I would definitely read the fine print on them. Also their contact info is shotty at best. All of the numbers listed are from United Bankcard, and this company is only a reseller for them. Their rate comparison is pretty ridiculous as well, so don't base any decision off that. The yearly fee should definitely be dropped, and check very closely for a termination fee. They state no contract, but that often refers to their company and not the processor.

Other than that, the rates seem fine.

Can I ask where you even found that website?

I appreciate ya'lls opinion, I found them through an ad on a google search. I will be sure to avoid that company because they do seem shady.

Authorize.net with unitedbankservice is working fine, and I have the service for over 2 years. There is no AVS fee, as it is free for all Authorize.net users. It is not at all a bad program, considering the gateway is $7 when I signed during the programmer's month and no monthly minimum.

My 2 cents, is to ensure you are not tied to a contract, so no contract cancellation fee is great!
