Do you like the challenge or the money?

There are certain types of sites that are extremely easy to market. I can build a site and make money off of it within a day.... But.. That bores me.

I rather have the challenge of creating sites for myself. Those are always the hardest to market and get "paid" for the effort.

I'd like to know what you think.

I'd guess it's the challenge of making money which drives almost any entrepreneur. That's the buzz. Branson could retire tommorow and spend the rest of his life doing WHATEVER he wants... but he doesn't, same with Gates although he's more of a geek than an entrepreneur.

Peter Jones (UK) for example though is worth £200 million yet he says he still works 12 hours a day.

Because I am not Bill Gate or Branson I have to create certain sites for the money.
But I am currently working on one site that purely a personal challenge as it is unlikely to ever make any ,(good), money.

Maybe if I was wealthier, I would do it more for the challenge than the money, but the economics been what they are, I have to do it more for the money.

I do it for both. The money helps with the challenge and the challenge helps to make it more exciting.

Challenge the change not change the challenge, life is 10% how we make it and 90% how we take it. :)

I like to make the money. Although I own personal websites just for the fun of it and not for the money.

Usually the challenge matters more than the money when you're already rich. I'm still in the making-a-living category so it's still the money for me. :(

    The challenge.

If I just wanted some money, I'd get a steady job and play the lottery.

challenge of course, but money is also important. If you can earn really big amount of money, then you'll be very joyful because you know how hard you working on your sites.

While the money is important, as mentioned above, I do enjoy the challenge as well.

Anybody can get a 9-5 job, get married, have kids, live in suburbia, but not everybody has the guts to try to make it big, to challenge themselves in a way very few people do.

I am doing it for the money currently, but hope to only do it for the challenge after some debts are taken care of.

The money's great, but I wouldn't have gotten to the point of making any serious money if I didn't thrive on the challenge early on. I'd have to imagine that most of the "biggest" entrepreneurs are the ones who got started for the challenge, and not just to make a buck. The big money comes in time... not from just trying to get by to pay the bills.

IMO, it depends upon the mood and need of the person.

However, I personally like customize work and challenge, but on the web I am attached more to the money as web programming or the other stuff is what I don't know too much.

I enjoy the challenge. I should be, as I'm not making much money at the moment!

Making money is more important to me than taking on a challenge.
I don't want to waste my time working hard if there is an easier way to make money. I always choose the easiest way to reach my goal.
