Hi, I would like to know what everyone thinks of my new site, http://www.towntalkers.com. It is a free classified ads website. It's been a hard time so far trying to get visitors but slowly its beginning to build. Anyway, let me know what you think and if you want to help out, please leave an ad! Thanks much, Brent
Wow, you're trying to break into a very competitive niche. There may be substantially easier ways to make money! If you're committed to free classified ads, I'd start with some classic SEO: What are your ideal users going to type into a search engine query box to find your site? It probably isn't "Town Talkers Classifieds" (your meta title tag). It might be "free classifieds", it might be "phoenix, az free classifieds". Do some keyword research with WordTracker, Wordze, or the Overture Keyword Tool, and target a page to each of those queries. I'm not sure that images are the best way to help people get to each city. I'd probably look at Craigslist and basically copy their format. The name of your site is "TownTalkers" -- perhaps you should focus on smaller towns that have less competition? Best of luck! -Chris
Nice logo! The design is okay.. what I would change are the blue numbers beside the building names, try changing them to white, it'll suit the background colors of the blocks better.
I like your site. I have one classified website myself but its for a specific car type. When i started 7 years ago it took like 2 years to get any traffic at all. Now without advertising i get 6000 uniques a day and rank 1st and 2nd in google and yahoo when typing MY KEYWORD for sale. I like your design, i have always wanted to launch a classified website but it is just hard to get traffic when you have sites like ebay, and craigslist dominating. Good luck, are you advertising anywhere yet?
Thanks, I realize it's very competitive and hard to get visitors but I'm not going to let that stop me quite yet. You say there's easier ways to make money... please let me know what they are! Thanks for the SEO tips. I'm going to make those changes. Also, thanks to everyone else for their comments and tips.
