Directory traffic

I was just wondering how directory owners get traffic from. Do you get most of your traffic from search engines, links on different directories, directory lists, paid advertisments etc?

 

A lot of my traffic is from here and google but if you want good traffic from google you need good seo to rank high for relevant high traffic keywords

 

The web is a big place and you must reach everywhere, so the traffic must come from all locations from many entities SE's, sites, forums, business, ads, keywords etc etc

That takes 365/24/7 marketing & promoting
