For the war? A very broad question. Do I want the war over yesterday? Yes Do I hope for the best outcome? Yes Do I want my fellow brothers in arms to have wasted their efforts for nothing? No Do I want john kerryesque borderline traitors to sell out their country? No It's a very broad question. I'm personally not for war, but I won't sell out my country for such nor will I sell out those doing the unthinkable task in it either.
I agree with you on some points. I know you served and I know that I hate to see fellow soldiers being killed everyday. I think you feel that too. We don't agree on a lot of points but I think we agree that too many soldiers life’s have been lost in this "war".
I agree, I believe we both see this. Make no mistake, I want this war over. I refuse to not support our troops or sell them out to justify such.
I am glad to hear it. We need to end this war now. I support the troops 100%, we both were a "troop" once upon a time.
As I have said hundreds of times it is an unwinnable "war" because it is not a war in the conventional sense. And because of that fact it could go on for eternity, and I think it will go on for a very long time, at least until Iraq runs out of Oil or Betschel and Halliburton don't exist any more, which is highly unlikely.
It's unwinnable for terrorists. Conspiratorial. It's fashionable to dishonestly align oil (as if someone were stealing it) until one is asked to show proof. Then they leave the topic and never answer.
How so? I'm curious because it seems there are a lot of different interpretations of what a terrorist is. For example, what do you feel are the clear goals for the US and Al Queda? I'd say for America, it is 1st prevent domestic attacks, and second defend Americans abroad, then 3rd protect allies and treaties. For the terrorists, it's not so easy to define. Are they trying to embarass the US? Harass and deplete the American military? Create economic uncertainty through fear and drawing the US Gov't deeper into debt? Are they trying to kill as many Americans as possible? Foreign and/or domestic? Are they trying to drive America out of certain regions, create new governments, compromise existing treaties? Are they at war with the philosophies of freedom, Christianity, Judaism? I could go on and on. I don't think you can win a war without knowing your enemy's intentions. It's too simplistic to think you can wipe out an organization that is multi-national, covertly funded, cell structured and mobile with pure military force. You have to remove (IMO) their victory conditions. You may think this is weakness, to stop aggressively trying to win through displays of power and brute force, but not all wars are fought on the battlefield. We collapsed the Soviets by basically bankrupting them into social reform.
Nice to see some points of positive attitude , agreeing on partial is better than no agreement at all. How ever the question at hand - Obviously I have not fought but I am against war like so many others.
If we are talking about Iraq ... it is not really a war. The thing is that US soldiers are doing a job that I think is more suitable for police ..... either Iraqi or some mixed police forces. It is obvious that this "war" is not going to be successful and more people are killed now in Iraq than when Saddam was in power. So the allies should think of some other approach...like strong police forces which can deal with criminals ....
1.Those who blow up in front of schools and markets are certainly terrorists but those who aim at military targets are soldiers like any other ! 2.War is good for business anyway not just oil but construction business is good ... very good
I would really like to see the statistics on that. I do not believe that Saddam's secret police and army released the statistics/numbers of people they kidnapped, tortured, shot, and gassed over the years. Ask the Kurds and other minorities about your bold assertion. Saddam was a brutal, selfish dictator. He ruled by intimidation and generally nasty behavior. I wonder how many Iraqis would really like to see him back in power?
I saw Iraqis telling that it was better under Saddam ! I see dozens of people killed daily in Iraq no matter what they are - sunni, shia or kurds. It is a country in chaos....at least that is what you can agree with I think. Military approach is not successful so the ones who made this chaos have to think of other ways to handle the problem. At the end I think they will just run out .... like they did so many times before
I am not sure I understand you. It is probably best that I leave this alone. We should agree to disagree. Strongly disagree. Agreed?
