How Do You Start Off Your New Sites

I was just wondering what the best way to start a new site off was? Because it is not index and has no page rank, no sites want to exchange links with you.

So how do you get over that first hill, which is the hardest?

    thanks

I start with directory submissions. Try and do like ten a day for basically ever. Forums on your topic are a great place to get indexed and get targeted traffic. Once indexed you'll be able to find other low pr sites that will trade links with you. Then comes the really hard part continuing marketing. day in and day out

directory submissions are the best, add your site to every directory you can, then you'll start getting hits :D

I start by submitting to all the free directories that appear on DP. Maybe distribute 2-3 articles using an article distribution service like Article Marketer. I avoid buying links for new sites for the first few weeks.

Yep, I build it to around 40 to 50 pages, then:

    1. Submit to directories
    2. Submit to article directories (a rewritten or a new article for every main page on my site with a link back to homepage and main page)
    3. Link to it from one of my other sites if possible
    4. Email my friends and trusted link partners to link to me
    5. Submit to social networking sites
    6. Hope for at least PR3 by the next update so that I can offer something to other webmasters when I ask them for a link ;)

To get indexed, you may want to add to your signature line as soon as you are able to here at DP or purchase other signature line. That normally gets you indexed fast. As others have said, start submitting to as many free directories as possible and if you have a budget, you may want to pay for a few good paid directories. Many free and paid ones can be found here at DP.

Once you are indexed, check some blogs with similar niche as your site and offer exchanges. Often times blog owners are more willing to exchange links than many other sites. Other forums that allow signatures are another source for free links as long as you follow the rules of the forum.

    Good luck.

Initially you have to work hard for getting your site index for this you will have to submit your site at various directories, try to get backlinks from relevant sites ( you may have to pay ) but take care that it may not look pais links.
Forums are best to market your site also joining social networking sites will also help you :)
    just my 2 cents :)

You can also try some quality automatic link exchange services.
But don't forget that in order to get results you should exchange links only with websites within your niche. LinksJunk.com allows you put all this work on autopilot and keeps your link exchange campaign in right direction.

You might try Google Adwords in addition to all the suggestions above. Be prepared to spend a lot of time and money to get your site off the ground. One can only hope that it will pay off in the future.

It isn't hard to get indexed if you put an adsense ad on it and run it through the QUIT Tool (see bottom of page). It is on a blackhat seo site, but the tool itself isn't blackhat.

    Besides that, directories are good.

Savweb, what do you mean by automatic link exchange services? I've only come across this service, but I'm not sure it's a quality one. (And can it be at all?)

As for buying links from the very site birthday, why is it not recommended? Just be careful, don't buy bulks of PR7 at once, and 5-10 per week is ok, I suppose.

Then again, has anyone mentioned forums and blog posting? In particular, links in signatures and Pay-per-Post services?

I've tried to look into this topic.

    Any ideas? :)

Well, i can advice one, but it's a LINK EXCHANGE service, where all webmasters are participating, no one way links there. And it is free. If you check out it's features you will see what i am talking about. Just look in to my signature :)

Is that one of those triangular things? I got accepted into lavalinks but nobody's on there, and it sucks.

No it is reciprocal, and it has a lot of features, much more than any others have.
Right now it is growing, and for this moment it has limited FREE registrations. As a CEO of LinksJunk i can say that what it has - is only the beginning of perfect automatic link exchange service for everyone. If you join - you have nothing to be afraid of. Just try it, register to see what it has inside.

If you have a budget for the new site you may consider paid links. If you search around you can find some relevent sites who are willing to add your link for a small fee. You can also checkout other paid services like text-link-ads but expect to pay more than if you go direct.

I also start off with around 10-20 free directory submissions and then another 20-30 paid directory submissions (especially if I see any featured link sales, because those get you a nice spot on the first page of relevant categories). Buying a few blog posts from good, non-spammy blogs is helpful and 2-5 related blogroll links.

That is usually enough to get the search engines started indexing me and then I keep an eye out for deals.
