What category is your forum? And advertising is good way to increase members but not activity. You need something special in your forum which will make your forum members more active and it will keep increasing your members.
It's a debate forum , I think I lack of advertising , what type of advertising could work effectively?
If you are gonna market a forum, try many things. craigslist, ebay, search engine dominance is a MUST, email marketing, ICO content for a while.. there are many thing you can do actually.
You also need a few VERY active members, probably including yourself, to keep things going. You may need to pay a few active posters/moderators at first. If people post and get no responses, people won't come back.
The forum is a couple of months old and I dont see any post besides post that created by forum poster that I hired .
I think this is the sure shot way to get ur forum working, fast ASAP.. 1) Install vbulletin 2) Install ico-content.. very good script 3) watch ur forum grow by itself for a few months(easy part) 4) after some thousand posts, stop ico-content 5) start posting real/user posts 6) go to forums, tell other to view ur site 7) Hire 4-10 posters/moderator and make a HYPE 8) BAN users so that they get frustrated and start using ur forum more.. 9) make contests. logo, anything 10) email marketing.. 11) word of mouth 12) declare that you made 50000$ on various sites to make some heads turn 13) say blatantly that BIG internet marketers are ur enemies and ur ahead of most of them.. say this openly everywhere. I think @ this time, u may need to buy a dedicated server! I post more when people ask me to. thanks!
You aren't posting yourself? If this isn't a forum that you have an interest in, and you don't have friends who are interested, you don't have much of a chance to get it moving. It's no coincidence that the owners of forums are typically the top posters and cheerleaders for the forums. Another important thing to do is to let others know about the site. For example, put it in your signature on any forum you post in. Become an active poster in at least 5 popular forums, and you should have thousands of people who at least see your site (it's up to you whether or not they want to post there though).
I've posted a lot , but somehow it seems like I'm the admin , moderators , members and also guest because almost every post is created by me lol. Now I doesnt have active members , where do I get an active forum?
I love vbulletin, but I don't see that as an essential criteria to get people posting, it will help, but as long as the content is interesting, people won't even care what forum software you are running.
Besides advertising don't forget to start some contests. This always has been the greatest way to get posters to forums.
