Hi All, I have recently setup a WordPress Blog on a subdomain, in which i am trying to get the main domain on the front page of google with a couple of fairly competitive keywords. The strangest thing i have noticed is that since launching the blog (which was only a few days back) my ranking for the main domain has jumped from Page 5 to Page 2. Do blogs really help with SEO? or is this just Coincidence? Regards Tom
One ranking factor at blogs probably is that every blog post title (with keyword phrase in it) is shown in the URL of that post.
I think it is just a coincidence. Google is undergoing a lot of changes these days, the toolbar PR update should happen every day now, and some even speak about changes in the algo, so it is very probable to be a coincidence.
Yeah its all a bit strange, but to be honest im not complaining! Are there any tools out there which predict what your new PR will be? or is it just a waiting game till it happens? Regards Tom
hi tom; can you write your pls? i think it will easy to make comment. but in generally, blog are helping to you rank better
Tom, I do not know a definite answer to your question, but I think your guess is correct. Blogs tend to have content that is updated quite often, and we all know that Google likes this. On a side note, have you noticed an uptick in traffic with your move to a better page?
Hi all, Sorry for not reply, i hope everyone is well?!? The url is www.blog.calosol.com and our keyword was "Alopecia" the strangest thing is we have moved again within google.com!! now back at page 5 grrrrr. Any idea's for this rapid movement? Regards Tom
If you're back at page 5, then it can be aGoogle Dance. Nice SEO tools along with a PR prediction tool can be found here, but you should know that these predictions tools are never accurate and you shouldn't rely on them.
Hi mate, Just wanted to say thanks for pointing me in the direction of those tools!! very very interesting!!
blogs i notice are always the first thing to be posted on google. I can make a bunch of changes to my site, then update my blog and my blog would hit google first
Blogs are usually priority (maybe because most of them offer great amount of info). But as many know, new sites have a great bounce at the beginning, that way google somehow gives you the chance to get known. But i think you will probably drop in a few weeks mostly if you do not add links and optimize your blog. I had the same problem with my site, an arcade site. I was on the second page after about 5 days from the date the site was launched. Then i dropped on the 6th page, and now... after adding links, seo.. i`m on the first page, 6th place. Adding Links is King + Content.
