Will posting signatures with a good anchor text and URL in other forums increase my page rank? What does anchor text do btw?

 

If you site is new or has low PR then yes it will help. It will be viewed as a text link from an established site and most large forums would have a good PR.

The anchor text is good for SERPs ranking if you use your keywords as the anchor text.

Most forum threads allow multiple links in signitures, DP allows 4, and there's usually 20 posts per page. That makes it 100 outbound links sharing the PR. So you're going to need a lot of forum posts to get some PR from your signitures.

They don't help alot, try and use other methods of obtaining backlinks.

 

not they dont use no follow. there are many more forums that dont use no follow. I think i saw a thread about this sometime back then. search a bit you will find a list though.

 

At the least it will help your website get indexed if it already isn't listed on the search engines.

It helps the SE's know what your site is about. If I'm not mistaking it's the same as link reputation.

 

yes its really one of the fastest way to get a new site listed in search engines.

 

signatures are great way of increasing backlinks.

if the thread that you replied is indexed by search engines, every link in your signature will be counted as backlinks

 

absolutely agrred. i have seen a lot of pageranked threads also at forums so besically you are getting PR links

 

Signature is one way to get a back link and free traffic..

 

it depends if the Forum is using no-follow or not and also it depends of the Forum PR.

I would not consider using every Forum.

Absolutely, this signatures are great one way links from site.... Which is good for building links....

 

I noticed that the threads at the beginning have PR=0, but after some short period of time, the PR is raising. So it's a helpfull thing to be done.
