Read this story the other day. Freaks me out!
I posted more on my blog, but that stuff above is enough to give you the idea.

My question is, how could you possibly not know you'd had your leg cut off????

I guess the feeling of too much pain causes people to temporarily lose feelings.

Wow that is creepy. I guess maybe the adrenaline rush blocked the feeling of pain.

I don't know much about motorbikes, but don't you need both legs to operate them properly??

It sure helps with balance but the brake and gas in done by hand. I believe there is a foot clutch on some but maybe on the other leg.

Iv seen this one on the TV the day this happened. I could not believe it myself. Yet again, i once had an industrial nail go straight through my foot and i only realised what happened when my shoe filled up with blood 5 minutes later.

Not if it's automatic. Although if your leg had fallen off you'd probably experience some difficulties stopping and not falling over.

I've heard stories about amputees having limb memory or something like that where at times it feels like the limb is still there.
