What makes a trusted forum member?

For you, what makes a trusted forum member? I'm talking specifically about DP here, but this could apply to any internet forum really.

Is it high post count? Good reputation (green blocks)? Something like iTrader?

For me, it's mainly high post count, especially if they make quality, long posts. However, if I see they have a negative reputation or iTrader I wouldn't really want to do business or communicate with them. What about you?

You normally assume you can trust a member with 5,000 Posts, Full rep and 250+ iTraders but even they can decide to scam once in a while. They might scam a new comer who has no rep so then the majority of people with believe the senior member.

iTrader is the main thing which makes a person is dp being reputated.
He can be trusted with the iTrade ratings only!

250+ Itrades??? How many people have that? I know like 4-5 DP'ers.

So what that makes the rest untrusted? :p

i like to think i am trustworthy.
its quite possible most of the folks who join are also trustworthy, but it takes time to build a good reputation.

the best thing to do is to use common sense when dealing with an unknown.
be vigilant and always investigate the person your going to do business with.

Post count doesn't really mean trustworthy all the time. For example: marymary has under 1k and is really trusted around here (she even ha full rep already!)

It just feels better that your are building with a big poster.
Because he has more to loose.

The quality of their posts, I believe. I can say rep isn't everything, there are many people here who has many posts and rep, but I wouldn't really trust them. I always look at the quality of posts and where they actually post their posts.

check the posts that he had done recently and see the status by the posts which connected with itrader even its below 50 and you can almost find out that whether you can believe the person or not.

dont give too much attention to post count.. i see soooo many members with high post counts, but when you do a search of their posts they have many short, pointless posts - or just regurgitations of what has already been posted.. i look at a combination of post-count, post quality, iTrader and how long they have been a member..

    1) iTrader
    2) Member since
    3) Post count
    4) Reputation
    5) Few latest posts
    --
Its not hard to get high post count,Making unnecessary/(being off-topic) comments on thread is the best way..

as far as my experience says, you can find a suspicious member (scammer) by there posting style..
its just something which i call "different".

Doing a proper research about the member is what can make you a bit sure that member is trustworthy.

btw, anyone think that I'm now a trusted forum member of DP ? :D

It's a combination of itrader, post count, reputation and the way the member does business and how he treats customers.

Look at mystikmedia for a great example. :)

trust is formed from a long term relationship you have built up with a person over the months/years, no matter what their post count, rep, itrader.
trust is something you feel and earn with each person as an individual.
    time = bonding = trust.
if you are talking about trusting someone to pay money to, thats just business, you dont trust the girl at the checkout in a store, why? you always check your change.
trading on DP is no different, what you term "trust" as, has different meanings to different people, to me it is trust as friendship and not business.
