Funny you should mention automaton while I was using an unrelated example of a robot in this thread. There are issues of truth that there shouldn't be diffences on within the biblical Christianity and there are other areas where there can be differences.

With the JW's they start with changing the bible to fit their doctrine and then don't allow for a whole lot of variation in thought. On a minor issue like the shape of the object that Jesus died on, I believe the Watchtower wouldn't allow you to think that it might be T shaped or X shaped. If you felt it was OK for certain types of family gatherings or service to your country or medical treatments, would they say "praise God bro, whatever the Lord leads you to" or would they try to "correct" your thinking?

If I ask any JW: "Hey, there's this great new band that's going to be playing at a Christian church in your town tomorrow night, I'll pick you up at 6:30, OK?" you and I know the only allowable response. I've made the offer to many that I would gladly attend a service at the Kingdom Hall if they would agree to extend the same courtesy to me and attend a service at a Christian church. Was their variation in the responses I get or was it somewhat automaton?

That sums up your argumentation, it's been similar for generations - disagree and destroy. Hitler and others had the same idea of banning true Christians but where is he now and where are true Christians?

God can be tested and has been many, many times by many, many people, His qualities are clearly seen in the world around us but because it does not conform to youre limited understanding you do not believe and you ridicule those who do believe.
The bible talks about people with limitations like yours:
Science of men does not cause any fright, it is impotent in the face of the greatest scientist, God Himself. Science does not disprove God, neither does it disprove Him as the Creator and Giver of Life. Men attempt to deny God by whatever means available to them because they do not wish to subject themselves to Him. As Isaiah says, they are as but the specks of dust on the scales ... of no account.

You have a strange idea of Christianity, were you brought up in a monastry?

I notice that you didn't answer my questions.
I have no contempt for people, on the contrary. But some people do behave very badly and argue without reason about things they know nothing about. I never considered myself 'lost' when I expressed views similar to those that people express here. Obviously I thought I was right. And I no doubt would have expressed myself in a similar way to you. I am sorry that you have taken offence at my post, none was meant, and I certainly did not mean to be condescending, must be the school teacher coming out. PS I didn't 'find Jesus' and consider myself saved. and why did you not address my questions instead of attacking me.( I teach debating as well :))

Are you saying the oldest manuscripts of the Greek Testament this world has says something other than "Stau-ros"? Tell me, what happened to criminals in this time. What scripture quotes the laws of that time in regards to criminals and how they were dealt with at the time? How did they die, or put to death? Please explain the reasons behind your thinking.

I have good solid answers to these questions. I'd like to hear your view though.

Doing a deal is not the sort of things we do. Look at the example of Jesus when Satan said "I will give you all the Kingdoms of the world if you will do one act of worship to me". Jesus did not do deals. Neither should we. However, the invitation still stands to you and anyone else to just come, sit and listen and maybe learn something.

    Regards,

    Col :)

If Jesus died on a stake, an upright pole, then why is it recorded (later) as a cross? It may seem like a small thing, but truth is truth. There is a reason that 'cross' came to be translated for 'stavros' and it relates back to pagan worship, to the God Tammuz (this is not JW doctrine as you see fit to call it, but fact). If something is factual, and you don't happen to like it, do you dispute it or accept it? or call it doctrine?
Service to your country is unscriptural, thats why the early Christians were slaughtered like pigs, because they refused to take part in emperor worship. Christmas is also of pagan origin (fact not fiction), and taking blood into your body either by eating it or transfusing it is against one of God's earliest laws. Genesis 9:4, and was one of the four things the 1st century christians decided were still to be laws. (Acts 15:28, 29).
As far as interfaith goes, if you invited me to your church to see a great band, I would very politely refuse. Why? Because I have been indoctrinated? or because in effect I have already been there. Most Witnesses come out of other religions. We already know and have seen what is taught there, and have decided (politely) to not go back. But we will continue to invite you to the Kingdom Hall, because very simply, we are convinced that is where the truth is taught.

Well is it appropriate to change truth just because it pleases some people to think differently? Consider the issue of whether or not Jesus died on a cross, what of these none JW references:-
The churches say that practices such as venerating the cross are part of “sacred tradition.” But when tradition conflicts with God’s Word, those who love God reject the tradition.

If they loved you and saw that you were going to do something that God disapproved of, they would endeavour to help you see things Gods way, anything else would be unloving. Liken it to preventing someone stepping into the road in front of a bus - both lead to harm and possible death, to avoid taking action would be unkind to say the least!

Automaton responses or the result of unity of belief?
JW's do not believe in multi-faith worship.
Should you be surprised at that ... what happened when the Israelites started to share with the worship of nations around them?
Did the Christians in the 1st century go do 'happy-clappy' in the Sanhedrin?

"Meanwhile, Saul was still breathing out murderous threats against the Lord's disciples. He went to the high priest and asked him for letters to the synagogues in Damascus, so that if he found any there who belonged to the Way, whether men or women, he might take them as prisoners to Jerusalem." (Acts 9:1,2)

    Which way was the Way?
The form of worship practiced by Christians then was marked as different from any other around them, when later some entered the congrgations with a view to changing 'the Way', warnings were given by the Holy Spirit. Attempts to reintroduce things like circumcision were clearly shown as wrong, not, "praise God bro, whatever the Lord leads you to"

    Hitler was a catholic.

    *your
I love how you talk about atheists "limited understanding". remember, It's you who believes in the invisible man in the sky. I know science frightens people of limited intellect, But it's a reality, And no amount of faith on your part can overtake the enormous amount of evidence science has collected that destroys your primitive idol worshiping.

I think it's put up or shut up time for you lunatics. Every post you make is basically you stamping your feet and demanding that people listen to what you are saying simply because you, For no reason other than you have been told it, Chose to believe in a primitive myth that was designed to explain misunderstood events to people who lived in houses made out of grass and animal shit 2000 years ago.

I notice you guys don't mind using what science has provided for you ungrateful fantasists. Wait until you need an operation. When that time comes think to yourself one thing. What would i rather have, The cure or a prayer. I know what you will chose, Hypocrite. All talk, You don't believe this shit any more than i do, You just regurgitate it parrot fashion because your brain has been so washed in this cult that you have lost the ability to even produce an original thought.

Many dispute that fact, though Catholics did not stand against him when he committed his atrocities. However his actions demostrate that he was not a true Christian, just as the actions of many Catholics and Protestants in Rwanda, Northern Ireland and many other places demonstrate that they were not true Christians.

You see it's just as the scripture says, you are physical not spiritual and so you do not understand, you are incapable of spiritual understanding so you resort to abuse and ridicule. What you fail to take note of is that Christians have been exposed to abuse and ridicule far worse that you can muster up for hundreds of years and it changes nothing.

Stamping my feet! - Lol, you don't even move me from my chair.
I'll let others decide who sounds most like they're stamping their feet in this thread.

strange how Hitler himself didn't dispute it. Let me guess, The ones saying he was an atheist are catholics and christians once again distancing themselves from murder and genocide committed by one of their brothers.

    Here is some of the many times he stated clearly in plain English what he believed;

    - "My feeling as a Christian points me to my Lord and Savior as a fighter. It points me to the man who once in loneliness, surrounded only by a few followers, recognized these Jews for what they were and summoned men to fight against them and who - God's truth! - was greatest, not as a sufferer, but as a fighter." - Published speech

    - " "I believe today that my conduct is in accordance with the will of the Almighty Creator." Mein Kampf, p. 46

It must suck to be you if even Hitler can find justifications for his actions in the bible..... Let me guess though, Not a true christian, Right?
I have embarrassed you on that subject, You can read some more of his religious beliefs here, Just make sure you don't claim Hitler was anything other than a catholic who believed in Jesus and found justification for his actions in the bible again, k.

And the scriptures must be the word of god because they say they are, And it has to be true, Because it is after all, The word of god. - Your circular logic has an autistic ring to it. It's almost as if you can't even see what you are tying and can't comprehend that other people are going to be reading it.

So even though people have been pointing and laughing at you for hundreds of years, generation after generation, You are still convinced that it is them who are wrong? There comes a time when you have to come to the conclusion that if people are ridiculing you on such a regular basis, They might actually have a point.

As I am sure you well understand, I am not an apologist for Hitler or the Catholic Church, or for that matter any other church that claims to be Christian but does not follow the teachings of Jesus Christ.
It is not what a person claims that makes them a true Christian it is what they do - I know that, and I am sure that you know that but it suits your argumentative nature to imply otherwise.

According to your own "holy" book the only thing required of a Christian is that he accept Jesus as his "personal lord and savior". And that he have just the right amount of craziness :D

I see, so without quoting from some religious books and opinion, god's existence cant be proved?

Yes sire, I have seen the Wind as well as the Electricity.
Try Thermal imaging in an open field, you will see the different Temperature levels for different gases..

You can see electricity too, Try zooming in to Electron level with an electron microscope on a conductor cable while circuit is closed, You'll see Electrons moving.
Mate, Its not me that has to prove that God doesn't exist, Quite Funny though...
If you believe it exists you have to prove the existence. if you cant prove existence it's automatically proved that god doesn't exist.

No.. I'm not seeing any 'Effect' I'm seeing the existence.

'Wind' is a mix of gases. I can see the gases, I can analyze them. Hence I can prove that wind( the gases) exist. I can give Tangible and Physical evidence.

    Can you provide such evidence?

Leave it be, Web. It's a never ending discussion, which always loops within itself over and over. No one can prove the existence of god. No one can prove that god does not exist. There will be no end to this utter nonsense that was started many years ago. Just shows you how stupidity is dominant within humanity.
