Hi, I'm thinking about starting up a game site... like 'AddictingGames.com'. You know, have a bunch of flash games on it and whatnot. Right now I'm looking at using GameSiteScript... and having about 1500+ games. If I put some ads up there... what do you think I could make for an income? and how much advertising would I need to do? I've never owned a site like that, and I'm just curious as to what kind of profit I could see with it. I'm guessing a game site would bring in quite a bit of cash... considering almost everyone loves playing games at some point, and it would be easier getting good quality traffic than what kind of site I have now (incentive site... which only attracts the people who really know about the whole incentive industry... everyone else thinks the site is a scam) Thanks in advance, Garrett
Too much competition, try and think of something unique and BIG, then save up some money and go for it!
Yeah its a particularly competitive niche...the question to ask yourself is what do i do better than the other sites? Can you compete on SEO? Do you have a unique angle? What value do you provide your users? Thing is unless you have a unique angle you are basically just copying the thousands of other game sites out there and SEO'ing for that market would be extremely competitive. So think about what would make a normal games user want to visit your site over the others etc. Just a few ideas

As has been mentioned, its extremely competitive, i'd wager there are hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of flash game sites kicking around. There are many ways in which you can either make your site unique, niche-orientated, or more appealling than your competitors, but its not the easy ride that many who get into it assume it is.
How will you rank in Google for just flash games? Surly there needs to be crawlable content for the googlebots to eat up. That is, untill they finish developing their way to crawl games and videos....
Yeah, its very competitive. But i found that you can with work make some profit on it. If you work hard, add unique features you could certainly get some profit if it all goes well.
I suggest you put up fliers and tell the kids around your neighborhood - if its a good gaming site, worth will spread quick.
