    Hello,

I wanted to sell a site on Sitepoint. I checked on dnscoop, and it said it should be worth $40,000. How close do you think I could get for a site that is that popular and makes $200 a month without changing anything?

I'd say about $1500~$2200, depending on how many people are interested.

PS: Sites are generally sold on how much money they're taking in. Using a tool like dnscoop to evaluate your site's worth is a huge waste of time.

The general "rule of thumb" that a lot of people apply to calculate a sites value is 10 x average monthly revenue - so by that count you'd be looking at $2000.

Personally I think that in most cases this evaluation is way off base as there are so many other factors to consider

Dont ever trust an automated appraisal.
If the site is not new and have a record of 200 for many months you will for sure get 2000 for it. I might be interested.

Especially not dnscoop, which is painfully inaccurate - personally I think the reason they inflate these values is so you'll stick their "my site is worth XXX" button on your website, which of course links back to them.

Don't ever trust dnscoop, they all just use really crappy algo.

Anyways, I think if you want to sell your site then you should first do some SEO services and then some link promotion stuff, and sell it then. Its like renovating a house and then selling it, you'll make a lot more that way.
