Stop those LOLOLOL kind of posts and tell what do you say on this link ? http://www.avivadirectory.com/downloadblog/?p=298
All the directories there are called Authority directories , and you mean its completely wrong?

Just showing couple google links does not work, talk when you can reply to all the questions asked and have good referances.

I still dont see a reply from your side regarding this > http://www.avivadirectory.com/downloadblog/?p=298
Do you mean its wrong calling it a authority?

Well get a grip there homey.

Google doesn't mention anything about authority?

I showed u their webmaster help and u can read it.

Written in plain english which everybody can understand.

Actually I'll just post it here.

    http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=47334

Do they mention anything about authority here or if the sites which are showing site links are any superior whatsoever then those which don't show them?

I mean what are you trying to con people and get them to believe that your site is better then others cause its showing those site links?

Well Google doesn't mention anything about authority.

Do u see it anywhere on their help.

I would say the information he has on his blog is incorrect. Maybe he didn't know about it or was misinformed.

I guess when he reads google's webmaster guidelines he will change his post.

Ok when it comes to that

You can not offer a single feature which linkspub does.

Do u have a custom tld search like we do? I don't think any directory on the internet does.

Do u have the business cards feature like we do?

Do u have polls like we do?

All u are trying to do is manipulate search engines and that is your prime business model.

While on Linkspub we have regular visitors, regular searchers and regular submitters.

Try looking at our audience of repeat visitors

    http://www.quantcast.com/linkspub.com

48% of our visitors come back

lets see what visitors do on ur site

    http://www.quantcast.com/gii.in

    they just pass by.

yea, well like I said you've got that paid link on wordpress.org going to your wordpress landing page.

None of your visitors are coming back.

So what use is your site even if you have a million visitors a day when all they do is come looking for templates and leave?

I mean if somebody were to submit his site in your directory what benefit would they have?

You don't even have a decent way to search for listings in your site.

While you go to linkspub and the feature list doesn't end.

You can't compare ur gii to linkspub

urs is a directory out of the box, anybody can do something like it.

Linkspub is a custom made software application.

Try to see if u or ur friends can come anywhere close to it.

    Give it your best shot.

You sometime say i bought paid links from wordpress
Then you say aviva blog gives wrong information

    Hello buddy--

Google Never mentions about the word AUTHORITY.
The word has been introduced by webmasters on one of the only two forums that Google officially acknowledges and Googlers read (they might monitor other forums too, but do not acknowledge them -- check here- http://googleblog.blogspot.com/ ).

Would you care to read some discussions there?
    http://www.webmasterworld.com/google/3120069.htm

Besides if site A has sitelinks--and it means nothing -- So why is Google showing them for some reputed sites only and why not site--B/C/D/E?

    EDIT:

Matt Cutts says Google only shows sitelinks for those sites they think offer other useful information not not just some A/B/C/D sites. So websites with sitelinks have special importance to Google bots.

this guy took the entire thread off topic!

the main point of this thread was: dose yahoo shows authority(sitelinks) for good websites or not!:)

i think it's a new feature, as we have not seen any of those before, we will have to wait for sometime and do some research about this sub-listings of yahoo!
anyways, congrats to gii.in for achiving first of these yahoo's sub-listings!

Well first of all when Google doesn't call them Authority, then they definitely are not Authrority.

This is what Google says about them and this is what they are.

You can show me all the forum posts in the world or get all your friends to pitch in and reply but it's not gonna change my mind.

I'm pretty sure the viewer reading this post will agree with me.

The ones who probably won't are the directory owners who are just looking for another way to justify that their stuff is better then others.

I have seen this on at least one of my sites and yes it might indicate a higher than usual number of back links or maybe some very effective deep linking but Authority status, never. My sites do not by any stretch of the imagination rank alongside Yahoo and Dmoz. This is just another example of sharp practice and in my mind verges on calculated and deliberate fraud for monetary gain. It would be interesting to see how an attorney who is familiar in internet law would view it.

The viewers read all posts --not only yours.

They know which arguments have proofs and which don't.

The one you quoted form Google Webmasters help says
"We only show Sitelinks for results when we think they'll be useful to the user. If the structure of your site doesn't allow our algorithms to find good Sitelinks, or we don't think that the Sitelinks for your site are relevant for the user's query, we won't show them."

Please go through the line in red. What does it says?

I am not saying them authority sites ( thats a webmasters term not Google)!

Google shows site links of a site when those site links are very important to visitors not to mention the whole site.

So why is Google not showing site-links for each and every website there?

Wake-up and give respect to where it is due. when Google treats those with special site-links -- others should also treat them as special.

Ofcourse --you are not Google-- so it matters little whether you treat them the way Google treats or not.;)

I also don't believe in taking all what is said on forums. But sometimes -there are real authoritative informations people can refer. If you read that thread you get all the information about why Google shows sitelinks and many more information from real authoritative sites --not just some stubborn webmaster.

The other guy challenged me and said 'Who is right aviva's blog or google' while they are Google's site links.

Google doesn't say this, not to mention the emphasis on the words 'very important'

This is what Google says, your just turning the meaning around.

try to search Google for the words Amazon or Ebay

Why does Google not show the site links for amazon.com or ebay.com??

Ebay is the number 1 internet auction and amazon is the no1 internet bookseller and software seller and portal?

All Google says, if your linking structure allows it, they will generate a site link for related queries.

They further go and say that in the future it may be possible to have webmaster input to which pages to list in those site links.

    LOL

eBay UK shows site-links. Those who are regular on Matts Blog know that lots os sites are manually reviewed and graded by Google. Number one does not guarantee you site-links.

And about link-structure-- so UK eBay is different from original eBay? Please check both Parent and UK eBay sites --check which sitelinks are being shown and compare the link-structure with the parent site.

Also if link-structure is the sole determining factor-- why are directories that run on phpLD and all have almost similiar link-struture do not show sitelinks and only Aviva and Alive?

My point is --there are lots of other factors than just what is written on those few lines --that makes Google bots show site-links. If link-structure is the sole criteria --then approximately 95% websites have bad link-structure. Also UK eBay's link-structure is better than the original while the sitelinks shows they have the same link-structure.

    Yea whatever.

But showing site links does not make any site more superior to another in any way.

    Simple as that.

Which is a busier site? Amazon or Barnes & noble?

Heck Amazon is probably hundreds of times more popular and known then barnes & noble.

Yet Amazon doesn't show site links but barnes & noble does.

I mean you can argue all the way till tomorrow but you don't have any substance in your argument to prove that the sites showing site links are in any way superior.

Google doesn't say anything about superiority.

    Think what you want.

Can't people see this thread merely as a marketing technique?

Well that's basically the whole essence here.

People are lured to believe this misconception that if a directory has site links, then it is an Authority endorsed by Google.

It has reached a level of utmost importance and the user should definitely consider this when shopping for a directory.

Does that have the slightest truth to it?

    Heck no.

That is the bigger picture for all of the people fighting with me and arguing for recognition cause a directory has site links.

It's just being used as a marketing technique to their advantage

    I'll be honest with you.

You go to linkspub and see the features which I have in there.

Not once did I or did any of my friends come to this forum and try to use any of them as a marketing advantage etc.

Never did I ever tell any of my friends to go and post stuff about how good Linkspub is blah blah blah.

    U think I don't know what's going on?

    Let's be real here.

I said Google does monitor some sites manually. Anyway who is Google to judge whether eBay/Amazon is better ?:p

They are big and old enough to give Google a run for its money. They don't need Google's judgement-- but we do need.

Yeah we can arhue whole month without anything substantial. But if you have read my previous posts properly - I always mentioned that the term Authority has been introduced by webmasters and Google have not yet denied it or officially endorsed it.

I am really disappointed with your one-side approach. Webmasters world is one of the two forums on the net where Google staff members read and is officially acknowledged.
If you read the thread -- http://www.webmasterworld.com/google/3120069.htm with an open mind and follow erach and every information and piece of referrential URLs given --you would know that -Google earnestly monitored it and the identity of a Google staff was later-on revealed.

About its usefullness --can you check these top 10 sites and see how many have those sitelinks? On my DC I see 16 of the first 20 sites having them.
The term is very competitive as top place there is worth millions of $$$.

Also can you please check a really competitive commercial term and see how many of those placed on top have site-links?

You will find that --sites with sitelinks are dominating real keywords and not imaginative keywords.;)
