well lets see: religion has no place in the abortion issue. i am not religious so it has no bearing on my choice. why should i have my choice removed by people that believe in something that cant be proven to me?
people are religious, so the women that are, have a right not to have an abortion, that's their choice.

I keep records of some questions i am asked, i have to keep them and keep my replies in case of legal issues later.
from 1st jan 2006 till 31 dec 2006 11 people have asked me how they can terminate a pregnancy without seeing a Dr.
There are ways, but there is no safe way. i wouldn't never tell anyone how to attempt anything like that, and my advice is you can't without seeing a Dr.

What surprised me the most was not the questions, or even the methods they put forward as advice friends had given them. i.e. a fall down stairs, or kick punch to the belly, i wont go into the others. but the surprise was who was asking me the questions.
1 was a 28 year old woman, afraid her husband would leave her because he didn't want children. (i suspect domestic violence was her fear)

2 girls both under 16 years of age.

    and the other 8?

8 boys between and 14 and 19, 8 boys so scared of what their families would do to them that they were willing to kick, punch her belly or push her down stairs or asked if they can slip her any drugs or try other things, to end a pregnancy without anyone knowing.

you want to know why i am pro choice? 8 boys, thats why. you take away the choice, you have more dead teenage girls/women.

over 5 years the numbers have been between 8 to 15 times a year i am asked, and always either a 50/50 male/female asking, or a little more male than females.

I think the main problem is educating the males more than the females, the males pressure her for sex, they pressure her into doing it without a condom, and they pressure her into an abortion.

I have a unique perspective on what goes on and i can assure you the problem is mostly with the guys.

the student center network that i work for, carried out a survey in 2005 and of the then 750,000 members, 156,000 took the survey.

the average age of loosing your virginity in the USA, is boys 18.2 years of age. and girls was 19.6 years of age. It worked out that boys are having sex 15 months earlier than girls.

the survey also showed a staggering 76% of the girls would sooner not take the pill but use a condom as the only form of birth control.

same question asked of the guys and 82% want her to be on the pill.

Then you'll find this story from New Zealand interesting: Young rugby stars beat pregnant girl

And another one where a girl was happy to kill her baby to avoid the shame: Student, 20, charged over death of baby

It does because religion tells us what to believe and therefore what choice we make. Religion, however, has no place in legislation and the rules of the land - it should be the extra layer of behaviour modification on top of societies basic rules.

For instance in NZ adultery is not a crime, but my personal morals and ethics have modified my behaviour so that isn't something I do or endorse.

Jesus never told us to kill our enemies, so the answer is obvious. As detestable as this practice is, it is one of many sins that separate us from the love of God.

I am sure she was far from a state of joy and celebration, and i am sure that whatever she did, (it does not say if she was guilty of anything) if she did it, was not a decision taken with joy and happiness at the forefront of her mind.

it plays no part in my life, i do not believe in any god. but thanx for the news links.

I wouldn't say that religion played any part in my life either but when I look at the core beliefs of Christians (honor your parents, don't kill... the simple stuff) I can see that they influence me.

And in those news stories it was culture and not religion that drove those actions. And in a country with pretty open access to abortion. I don't approve of abortion but I believe that has to be a personal choice. I'm with you - I'd rather see a girl get an abortion that get beaten up by her boyfriend and his thuggish mates or kill the full term baby.

The bible just happened to say what people already think. People honoured thier parents and thought murder was bad long before the bible told them it was bad.

There is no need to ban abortions, there is a need to improve Sex Ed and better access to free contraception, and teen Sex is the same as telling a 6 year old they cant have a cookie, the moment you say No, they are planning to get some anyway.

if you look at my site, you'll notice one major issue that i am missing from my site, and that's an abortion page.
I dont have any advice on my site about an abortion, not one word.
I dont actually advocate abortions, so i dont have a page on my site about how to get one. but if asked i'll help someone by getting them the correct information they need.
i also had a termination myself last year.

is this the same bible that says you should stone to death adulterers

Yeah I read the bible, did you? The one I'm talking about is where jepthah has to sacrifice the first living thing he sees when he gets home after a battle and it happens to be his only child and no, no angel stops the killing.

Anyway do you think its ok to tie a child to a pyre and pretend you're going to kill him? Imagine the trauma, what a wicked being!

Even Jesus said "I will kill her children. Then all the churches will know that I am the one who searches hearts and minds." in Revelation 2:23

Jesus would kill children for his own ego.

What is really ugly about these kind of arguments is that every one forgets about the true victims of abortion. Woman and her child.

If you are pro-life, killing is out of question.

These 'Christian' are definitely not Christian. They are the Al Qaeda equivalent of Christianity.

    Look at the Catholic Church

That is the no true Scotsman fallacy. The fact is they are christian and to go one further, They would probably claim that people who don't advocate violence against abortionists are the ones who aren't christian.

Religion has this amazing talent for getting people to do evil things.

How could they be Christian when one of the commandments is 'do not kill'.

An example if the vice president of a country is against a MORAL policy of the president.
    The president will keep him?

It also says an eye for an eye.. So what would that make the punishment for killing an unborn child according to christianity?

See what you are doing is looking for passages that support what you already believe. You already believed that killing is wrong, You don't need religion for that, So all you have to do now is find bits in the bible that supports what you already believed and then claim to be living a christian life.

The people advocating violence against abortionist done exactly the same thing, Except thier beliefs are that abortionists should die, So thats the opinion they look in the bible for when looking for divine support.
you: "I don't want to kill anyone, And god said not to"
them: "I want to kill abortionists, And god said an eye for an eye"

(by the way i don't know if you are christian or not, So read the above as being directed to christians in general, Not specifically to you personally)

    I am a Catholic.

You are picking pieces from the Bible. You quoted from a passage from the OLD Testament.

    Look at the NEW Testament.

It's not me that is picking pieces, It's you. I thought i made that clear when i proved how killing abortionists can be supported by god as much as not killing them can be, Depending on the opinion you are looking to find support for.

By the way, You might want to re-read your book, Then read the old testament.
    Matthew 5: 17
I'm not arguing on the side of abortionist killers, I'm simply saying your "no true scotsman" argument is fallacious and that these people very much are christians, regardless if you agree with what they are doing or not. Any opinion or action can find support in the bible, If you are willing to selectively read it with the intention of finding support for something you already believed.
