I checked the term 'Marketing' in Inventory Overture and KeywordDiscovery and they had COMPLETELY different results for the keyphrase 'Marketing Agency'. Keyword Discovery marketing agency 291 Inventory Overture marketing agency 112973 Any idea which is correct? I bought a domain name www.Marketing-Agency.biz according to those Overture results!
Even Overture (by Yahoo) is not updated it is still a good source in terms of keyword searches per month.... I always rely on overture... It is almost accurate in terms of keyword searches per month...
But in my experience, BOTH of those tools have been quite accurate. But now they're completely different for this phrase. Which number do you think is more likely for 'Marketing Agency', 300 or 100,000?
Check your competitors on Google Search also: as i have search for it...with this link http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=Marketing+Agency&btnG=Google+Search Results 1 - 10 of about 123,000,000 for me I go for Inventory Overture marketing agency 112973
i dont trust overture results. i think the best one is adwords keyword tool. in my opinion, you must also check it too
Well its not just about the keyword although its a good keyword, the tld priority matters too so you'll need to work twice as hard to get a .biz tld to perform the same as a .com tld. my 2c
My biggest problem with using overture keyword tool now is the fact that the results are from January 2007, that is 8 month old search data. Who is to say that the keyword or keywords you are researching have not changed drastically since then? You market your website around out dated data that is like playing with fire in my opinion. The tool was great back in the day when it was being updated, but now I would retire it into the SEO tool hall of fame. Steve
'Marketing Agency' is a very general phrase, I can't imagine it would drop from 100,000 searches to 300 over 8 months. I heard they all get equal rankings in Google, the only difficulty is building the backlinks.
I agree with you, there is no way that the search term marketing agency has dropped that much. My point is it baffles me as to how many people still swear up and down by the overture tool. This time next year, will people still be using it for there keyword research? I hope not. Steve
Hey did you try historical global on keywordsearch? I too find it very contrasting and even overture data is inaccurate. My google analytics show more unique visits for a particular key word (jan 07) than the total searches indicated by overture. You can have both of them just as a reference..
KeywordDiscovery Premium 291 searches KeywordDiscovery Historical 56,346 searches keep in mind that when using the Premium database option is that this is comprised searches performed from around 2 million internet users... as a result, the numbers will be much smaller. So to get a more accurate number, multiply this by the number of users there are online and you will get a more indicative number. Cheers David
Not sure what you mean by that. I did the default search. Usually my searches have similar results in Overture and KeywordDiscovery but this search has vastly different results.
