3 Charc domain gets good money, and the market seems to be getting even hotter... more details here-> http://www.greatdomainstoday.com/
Those are 3 letters. 3 characters are a completely different market. (yes, I know letters are characters, but in "domain talk", those are two different things.)
LLL.COM's are hot in the domain secondary market....... LLLL.COM's are also attracting speculators and investors........good for people like me
I really don't understand why 3 letter domains are so hot. To me the domain doesn't seem worth that much money. Why do people like these domains so much?
3 letters, I believe are the smallest combination you can get, and they are very easy to remember. Personally I think a lot of it is hype and myself would value a good word that makes sense instead of an abbreviation, but that just may be me.
Any 4 character (yes, I said character) domain in .com or .net extension is worth atleast $4000 in todays market. If you have 4 letters, then maybe $5000+, depending on what you have, and if its gibberish or not (ex. ILUV vs FFYG). I think there are still loads of 4 character .orgs, so I might think of registering one of those in the near future.
You're very wrong. 3 letters: $4500+ minimum 3 Characters: Low to high $xxx minimum (depending on the location of the letters and numbers). Pronounceable 4 letter .com: $xxxx Other 4 letter .com: Reg Fee to mid $xxx 4 CHARACTER: Reg fee Those are all .com's. 4 character .net's are worth absolutely nothing right now. 4 LETTER .net's are just starting to gain a little value (low to mid $xx).
Really??? How about I go & register a ton of names like z7q1.com or qzwq.com & sell it to you for at least $4K
The LLLL.com's that comes up for sale mostly don't Rhyme, and are not as easy to brand as LLLs so i don't know if domains like fjkw will ever fetch a good value
..well regardless of how we all feel, look at the trends..#'s dont lie. They might FIB a bit, but...... more domain news
I fail to see the value in something like lsk.com, etc. How is that brandable? You won't get type-in traffic, it's not memorable, it's not a word - I don't get it.
MSN and AOL are huge because they are owned by Time-Warner and Microsoft. They couild be called esfhrewihewirughf.com and still be huge, with that kind of money behind them. So you think jzx.com or fkv.com is better than, say, jumpoffabridge.com? I'll take juimpoffabridge.com - at least people will remember the name.
AOL could have went with AmericaOnline.com. World Wrestling Entertainment changed their name to that in the early 2000's. They are one of the most well known companies in the world way before the name change. Did they go with WorldWrestlingEntertainment.com? No, they paid for WWE.com. Yes, they are all mammoths. But they recognize that it's alot easier with their short 3 letter name. Everyone uses 3 letter acronyms. Period. That simple.
WARNING! UNPOPULAR VIEW EXPRESSED BELOW: I am with Nora on this one. Just because it is rare doesn't necessarily make it valuable. The three-character domains are easier to remember. However, an unpronounceable LLL dot com versus a real four- or five- or six- or seven- letter word? No contest. I think the ASCII market is just so saturated that these three-character domains actually look good. Few can afford a decent single word dot com (if they ever go up for sale), so we look to hyphenated words, two & three word combos, 'e' domains (eWhatever dot com), 'my' domains (myWhatever dot com), and the like. I, myself, have three character domains, e & i & my domains, and 2 & 3 word combos only because it is so dang hard to find anything worthwhile out there. I do like some of my ASCII domains, but I would trade them all for one decent short, single-word dot com (candy, honey, paper, light, hotel, hair, cars, etc.). Not a technical/dictionary word that no one really uses, a real searched keyword. OK, I would also like to hit a big lottery jackpot, but that won't happen either. I have been doing some soul-searching lately, can you tell? Go ahead, fire away.....
