im on vacation, but i took my psp to check my mail. i just got a submission for a casino review/news site. is this considerd family friendly? will paypal limet me like they did with aaron? mike
I have been paid for submissions for quite some time now in about 10 directories and I have never had a Pay Pal problem nor a rank dip of any kind!! What did they say about the Pay Pal thing exactly??
I specifically asked my PayPal rep about this after hearing of a problem related to this previously. I was told that it was not a problem since I am not running an actual gambling site.
That means we can accept gabling or casino related sites to our general directories without having any problem ? Chris then why paypal told aaron to remove gambling link from his directory
I don't think there is any such problem with gambling sites I do accept gambling sites in some of my directories. There maybe cases that paypal limited the accounts but that maybe a case of a specific paypal member who perhaps was on their blacklist who went on submitting his site to directories and the result was limiting the directory owner account, but other than that there cannot be any issue until unless ofcourse yours is not an actual gambling site.
thanks for the views guys. i will add a gambling category. should i only allow review sites or allow carinos too?
i was about to post this question myself! on harmu.com i got a casino bid sometime back. i remember when i started off, i have refunded a few casino bids and submission, but then later on, i have seen other directories have casino links. so am accepting those links now! Yesterday i saw a $3k casino bid on bid web links, and as chirs says, i don't think there is any problem with paypal. since that is just a link and has nothing to do with gambling! Moreover, those are casino guide sites, they just give casino news and reviews may be you should re-think about it! may be you should ask paypal support first before adding that category!
There seems some controversies... Amit_patel's paypal was also limited due to gambling links.. I am going to mail them.
The main loss i had there was many incomming and outgoing subscriptions which all got cancelled and still my account is limited
Mikey, you were the one who said you wouldn't buy a link on my http://www.fosee.com because the top spot was a online casino gambling related site. I'm getting a good laugh to hear you going full circle on this I spent 5 years as a online gambling affiliate. Making a nice xx,xxx income last year doing it. After the passing of the UIGEA online gambling bill this past october it's anybodys guess as to what links are legal and which links are classified as "aiding and abetting". I'm sure that is the issue Paypal is having. Like most laws, it's clear as mud until they try someone and a judge determines what the law really means. You will see in the "whois" information very few of those review sites are located in the US anymore, most affiliate have taken them offshore or as I have, left the industry all together. FYI, If you live in the State of Washington a July 2006 state law makes linking to online gambling sites illegal and a felony, I don't know about the legality of linking to online gambling review sites in that state though. That being said, I allow gambling related and affiliate sites in my directory, but not sites that do the actual gambling. I don't have a gambling category, but have a games category as I have heard in the past Paypal frowns on Gambling categories, Aarons site was just one of many I have heard this about. And of course the legal disclaimer: This post is not ment to be legal advise, I am not a lawyer, etc... Tuleja
Amit have you told them that you are not running an actual gambling site What they said you to remove limited access from your paypal account
Mike, you are an UK citizen. In UK there are no such laws prohibiting gambling (as much as I know) and your paypal account is related with Paypal.co.uk which is the UK branch of paypal and have to deal with the UK laws. I don't think is any issue if you accept payments from gambling related websites
Though mine was limited for this I would say to keep doing it until they notice then just remove them. But you HAVE TO REMOVE them in order to get your paypal account back. So its up to you if you want to risk it or now. None of the sites I linked to were gambling/casino sites. They were all informational sites on casinos, paypal seemed to not care though.
Paypal have their on interpretation of the law depending on the day, weather and account owner so anything could happen.
yes, this is the point i made, on my first post on this thread! those sites are not casino sites, they are infomational sites! anyways, i have emailed paypal, and if they ask to remove it, i will remove it! else it's all right
Cause paypal is stupid maybe? Or maybe he did something else that no one else knows about ? Hey i got richi_ni's casino and many other such sites in my directory. Why could paypal even care to look at what the payment was for ? If they do thats break of policies i think.
As far as "accepting" such sites, well, from day one, I decided not to accept such sites at Best Web Directory. And my decisions don't change with "PayPal's View" of "casino & gambling" That makes perfect sense. After seeing so much of "PayPal blocking account" and now reading this thread, I think PP people have there own definition of "Casino sites" and everything related to it Green for you ! Ask !
