Ron Paul finished 3rd in the straw poll conducted in Illinois today. Mitt Romney won the straw poll, and Fred Thompson (who has not declared for the candidacy at this time) came in second. http://weareillinois.org/Connect/Detail/tabid/73/news_item_id/345/Default.aspx
Hey it looks like Ron Paul actually has a fighting chance. Ron Paul Supporters Going Nuts in Iowa. I smell revolution.
I'm sure GTech looks at those results, and thinks to himself, "Hmmm. The entire internets must have turned out to vote."
I find humor in the fact that more people would vote for a guy who's not running than would vote for RP. Reminds me of the race for Congress several years back where the incumbent died during the campaign and still won the election!
The unlikely best case scenario is Bushites will have to eliminate him like they did Kennedy or Wellstone, but at least he is waking some people up
Heh, no, I look at them and laugh compared to last weekend. Huge difference. Let's review: http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/north/chi-gop17aug17,1,1253331.story Real Straw Poll Results: Nice try, though
Welcome back Dad. I missed you! I would hesitate to even call the Iowa poll "real" given that voter turnout was atrociously low. But Paul hasn't had to loan his campaign $6 million like Romney did and is starting to build some recognition and steam nationally. Google News has had a lot of action reporting Paul as one of the top 3 candidates at the Illinois poll, which like the internet support base, comes very affordably, unlike the millions that "The Mitten" spent to win in Iowa. Man, I just love fiscally conservative Republicans. It's almost erotic.
So then you would agree that the Illinois, with 15x less votes, was even less "real?" I'm glad you saw my point
Oh yeah, I totally do not think that these polls represent anything about the actual status of the candidates, The Mitten included. But just the same, for the lower tier candidates, they can serve as currency with the MSM, currency that in most cases has to be bought at a high price. For those lower tier candidates, people like Paul who get the majority of their donations from private citizens in smaller amounts, being able to garner exposure at a low cost is a tremendous campaign boost.
Haha do you live in Florida? Saw an M3 with a sticker in the window the other day, another among the many stickers I've seen for him. Man I can't wait for the primaries to start.
